How is osu a one game wonder? They have 4 top 5 finishes since Urb took over, 6 division titles, 2 conference titles, 2 playoffs. I hope Pruitt’s a one year wonder
1 championship. Clemson won with great QB, auburn same fsu same . Nobody beating Bama with out elite college QB .Especially while there the team with the elite QB . LSU would be there with Bama the they would maintain a good QB. They always have really good Defense.

All of this. I think he struggles mightily pre-snap and like you said, a way to fix that is to get to the LOS quicker and let the coaches call the adjustments. With that said I don't have a lot of confidence in Helton up to this point.
Hugh Freeze and Bobby Petrino say hey!
We would by far have the best staff in the nation...

I agree i think part of the problem is JG cant read a defense pre snap. Could we not, maybe line up a little earlier in the play clock and have him check to the sidelines and let the coaches call the protection adjustments
I definitely think reading defenses pre snap and pocket awareness are the areas he struggles most. Seems like (when he has time to throw) he does a decent enough job reading DBs/LBs who drop back in coverage and finding a spot to deliver the ball.

But unless the OL just takes a massive, unprecedented step forward you’ve gotta wonder if he’ll ever be able to be as effective as he should be. Experience usually helps things slow down for QBs, but he’s got as many games under his belt as a starter as KC at this point. It just seems weird that he struggles this badly in that department. We’ve seen dumber guys be much better in that department.

How confident is everyone against South Carolina?

I actually feel we win this game. We play better on the road.

Earlier in the season, there was a comment by Pruitt that calling a defensive game is easier on the road because it's quieter when the other team has the ball. I've often wondered about that, the way the defense showed up at Auburn, and those clips of Pruitt calling out last minute defensive calls.

I feel pretty good about our chances in every game left. I do worry a bit about the Bama hangover this week and the matchup against Mizzou, though.

I think we have a chance but I'm not sure I feel good about those chances. Our OL still sucks, which is typically a recipe for disaster against anyone in this league and I'm getting concerned about some of the injuries. We have nobody to replace Kongbo's vacated spot, especially from a physical run stopping standpoint. Our ILB's have been dreadful all season... And as crazy as this sounds we desperately need Abernathy back in the secondary. We just cant afford to put Shamburger and Osborne out there.

Play like we played at Auburn and it's a W. Let the TOs, mental mistakes and penalties pile up-- could be a L.

I'm concerned that SCAR will go for JG's ribs and try to knock him out of the game. Wouldn't be surprised to see late hits and cheap shots. SCAR seems to hate the Vols and many still think Lattimore's injury was a dirty play, even though Lattimore himself said it wasn't.

Playing at Columbia is like playing at Athens. Momentum can be a bigger advantage than the home-field.

The key to win against SC is running the ball and controlling the clock. Their Dline is small. I’ve heard they might try to play rick sandidge at DT this week to get bigger up front but he’s a true freshman. This is a game where the oline can really build a lot of confidence.

JG or chryst need to make just enough passing plays to keep them honest too. I would feed JJ, callaway, and Chandler the same way we did against AU.
I don't think the size big or small of other teams is so much the problem with this OL..They just totally whiff a lot, blowing assignments all over the place.

Not great.

I don’t think South Carolina is particularly good, but we have no consistent means of putting points on the board. Auburn was a fluke in that our Hail Mary passes worked and Kevin Steele, who could’ve been our head coach, didn’t adjust and play a zone to take some of that away.

At some point you have to be able to consistently get 3 yards running the football and we’ve proven we can’t do it.

It's on film (several times) that JG and the O-line cant pick up or read the blitz that well. Gotta think that South Carolina will bring the blitz every time.
Good. We'll back shoulder throw and 50/50 them all game long just like vs Auburn. JG can't read defenses presnap but he can take a hit and he can throw the 50/50's. Let our big WR's go get the ball and win that game.

Sure it can - but I’ll say again that I think the talk on Kentucky is a bit premature. They’re 6-1 and that’s impressive for sure, but they’ve only beaten one good team (Florida) and that was while Mullen was still working to get his scheme installed. They lost to a mediocre Texas A&M and are 7 point dogs to a bad Missouri team this week.

Here’s there upcoming schedule: Missouri, Georgia, Tennessee, MTSU, Louisville. They might legitimately go 2-4 in that stretch.

Again, an 8 or 9 win season would be impressive by Kentucky standards. But they would’ve beaten only one good team in that group.

Their standard should not be our standard.
They are a fundamentally good, solid football team...we are not, at least to this point. Why diminish them just because they have a K on their helmets. Beating them this year, with this team is going to be a chore. Acting like it isn't is dumb

Let’s have this discussion in a month. We’ll know more then.

Why do you need a month to see that they play well? Whether they win or lose from here on out means nothing in that conversation. Nobody is saying they are some juggernaught. They are a good, solid team that plays good fundamentally sound football. That is already obvious.

Eh Kentucky showed them selves against Vandy imo. I think SC, Missouri, UK are all 50/50 games.
