Thats what im saying though. In most of the practice film we see KC misses throws a lot. Now I understand we dont see all of the practice but there is atleast some reason why JG beat KC for the starting job and his accuracy would be my guess. You have to be really bad to throw a lot of picks in our offense tbh. Like constantly sailing and just missing throws.
Bama is not always gonna be this good. I know it sucks now, but personally I would never trade the game for an easier one.The annual game is a completely unentertaining waste of time.
And we’d still likely have to face them in the SEC championship at different points so we could still be the best by beating the best.
Teams yearn to go to the playoffs every year. Seems like the VOLS get to play playoff teams every year no matter how terrible we are... (last year we played Georgia/Bama, the last few years we played Oklahoma, Oregon, Auburn, etc. etc.)
I would love to win more games, but if we are pretenders, it isn't going to matter when you get to these big games. You will look like Notre Dame did when they went and shat the bed.
So give me Bama and Georgia and whoever else. Pruitt says we will never again look like we did against Bama this year. I choose to believe him.
This power you speak of is in Phillip Fulmer's hands, and his alone...and I'm quite certain he disagrees with you on this topic.Final thoughts on the Bama game and I will give it a rest. It’s clear from Saturday Vol fans are voting with their feet on the game, with many of them selling their tickets to Bama fans and students not really showing up.
Plus, who the heck has honestly enjoyed watching these games the last ten or so years. The blocked kick game in 2009 was interesting and the 2015 game we lost late was fun, but otherwise they have been so lopsided it’s not even remotely entertaining for everyone that’s not an Alabama fan. The media scoffs at the notion we can hang with Bama and we become the butt of a lot of jokes.
I see no clear end in site to that either, other than a vague hope Saban will retire in the next five or six years and they will mangle the next hire. Seems like a long time to wait for a reprieve, and there’s no guarantee it will be competitive then either.
I can almost guarantee you the Arkansas game would be competitive or lopsided in our favor pretty much every year it is played.
Consider this and then I will quit: if we had gotten rid of the Bama game years ago and were just now coming off a nice win over Arkansas, would this board be flooded with posters saying the first seven games were fun but I sure wish we were playing Bama this year? Highly doubtful.
Choice seems obvious to me and I’m pretty sure it is within our power to make.
Did you see Pruitt’s comments during and after the game about needing to recruit better players? What did you think about that?
Oh yeah. I saw when he said the thing about Tennessee corners not making it on blitzes and if we had some different guys here, I bet they’re making it on their blitzes. That just shows he’s not used to not having Alabama-type players. It’s going to be something to get used to. And we have to be trying to get those kind of players in here. He does have a point.
If you’re a player on this roster, how do repeated comments like that sound?
It sounds awful. You’re out there giving all you got and your coach is saying, “Well, we probably need new blood in here, new people.” It’s going to get under your skin. But as a player, you also have to be realistic and know he’s not lying. They’re not getting the job done. If I was in that situation and I was giving up 60 points in a game, I couldn’t be mad about what he said.
But something did happen. Pruitt suffered his fourth loss. He’s never done that as an on-field coach and only experienced it once in his career, all the way back in 2007 when he was the director of player personnel for Alabama in Nick Saban’s first year in Tuscaloosa.
When he earned his first job as a coordinator, he won a national title in his first season, helping coach Florida State to a 14-0 season. The next year, he inherited a defense that won 20 games in two years at Georgia. He helped them win 20 more games the next two seasons.
When he returned to Alabama the next season, he stepped right in as a perfectly fitting cog in the Crimson Tide’s trophy-collecting machine, fueled by eight consecutive No. 1 recruiting classes.
Pruitt has been very aware of the realities of his roster, but he’s never been a part of a college staff that lost a game as badly as Tennessee did Saturday. When it was over, he didn’t sound angry or frustrated, though cornerback Baylen Buchanan referenced a message to the team in the postgame locker room that would earn a few FCC fines if it had been broadcast live over the airwaves.
Pruitt just sounded tired. Tennessee might be improved from a year ago, but the mistakes Pruitt sees on Saturdays are mistakes he’s never endured as a coach. [\quote]
I mean it might all be for the better but Pruitt also has to mold some of these dudes out of the mud they are in to start competing next year.
