Those types of blocks are usually not done that way. The Auburn guy went straight for Kongbos knee. Not a cool move by him. Most of the time the blocker aims for the ground and rolls to lessen any impact that is made. That block is only supposed to give an extra second of protection not take someone's knee out
I would like to see a Muay Thai style knee to the head if they are going for knees. Make it more even.

One thing I've been thinking about after this win:

I was really down on this team and the program in general because of where we're starting from and where our rivals are. They're way ahead of us with much better rosters. Even the dredges of the SEC East have continuity and don't have big holes on their roster like we do.

But team buy-in and momentum are invaluable, and I think we now have both under Pruitt. Honestly, the fact that Butch tanked the program so badly that we went 0-8 SEC may be a blessing in disguise moving forward. With Saturday's win and a potential 6-6 or even 7-5 season, Pruitt will have complete and total buy-in from the players. Because he's starting with almost zero expectations and every SEC win will be a major event for those guys.

Plus, I feel like winning on the Plains, even if the 2018 Auburn Tigers end up going 6-6 or whatever, is something Butch wouldn't have been able to do even with the 2016 roster. He would have found a way to lose that game. Pruitt found a way to win it. And the team will respond to that. They will feel like their coaches have their backs and are putting them in position to succeed and win.

When everyone is pulling in the same direction, the team is greater than the sum of its parts. That's a big reason why new coaches tend to have big success in year two. Unfortunately, Pruitt can only do so much with this roster, and year two won't be some breakthrough 11-1 year. But coaches can have unexpected success in their first few years due to the momentum they're building and the fact that their players buy-in completely. There's no complacency and no entitlement. Just a strong desire to win and improve.

We were getting something like either 1.6 or 1.9 yards per carry against Auburn (I forget which). I don't think we'll get much better against Alabama. That said, we can't completely give up on running the ball or we really will get JG killed. I would like to see us run a little less tho. Substituting short throws seems to be working better than trying to run between the tackles. I liked that they found new ways to get the ball to Chandler (I hope they keep that up).

They're not going to give up running the ball. They want to run it more. They opened it up because the early runs were only minimally effective and they had to let JG throw out of repeated third and long situations. JG and the WRs stepped up big and they had success throwing downfield. So they adjusted and took what Auburn gave us, and that was good progress.

I do think Chandler will be a double-digit target from now on and I'd also expect JJ's role to increase now that he's eased back and gotten healthier. I hope they keep mixing it up and finding new ways to use our playmakers. We're not at the point in development-- and don't have the personnel-- to execute the power run offense they want... but we do have the playmakers to win games.

THIS WEEK IN SCHADENFREUDE, UGA fans think program ‘collapsing’

Some of my personal favorites...

Kirby=Gus 2.0

Yesterday proved that Kirby is a mediocre coach at best and 100% liar. This may turn out worse than Gus. He does not play the best players, when a RB get hot he pulls him. He is effing clueless. He showed who he was yesterday which is a younger, polished version of Gus that will stay with a loser at QB regardless of the score or how ****** he has performed.

Its done

You could really look at today and see it as the day this program fell apart. Possibly lost emory today, the whole race/political aspect thats coming up with the QB’s and how poorly they were managed today. The team looks lost and disinterested in actually playing. There are some deadweight coordinators and position coaches on this staff right now(Scott and Chaney).Kirby is letting his program collapse before he ever even really got it running. I hope he wises up for his own sake because he is digging his own grave.

Showing you have 2 or 3 WRs that can win 1vs1 will help the running game but it you have to continue showing it as a threat. And even at that its not gonna be a line up and just control the game running against a solid D. We re not good enough up front to do that. As well as the WRs block Im not sure why they haven't tried to stretch the field with Chandler on tosses more. We appear to block the edges better than between the tackles.

It was so nice to see some real football played on Saturday. It was fun to watch what looked like a motivated team. Not to mention, we looked like a much better team fundamentally.

Jennings is a boss. That kid is irreplaceable. He sets an example with just about every play he makes. Love watching him play, and we will miss watching a kid play with his drive and passion once he graduates.

Guarantano played the best game of his career. I hope that game gave him a lot of confidence and he can keep it going. More importantly, you could tell how much that win meant to him. It's fun to watch, and it makes you happy when you compare the kid you saw on Saturday to the kid you saw a year ago. He's going to get some respect for that.

Last, I am really happy for Phil Fulmer. That guy loves Tennessee, and you could see it after the game. I'm not talking about him leading a chant in the locker room. Watch him hug every player, coach, trainer, and staff member in sight after the game. He's a leader that wants to see Tennessee win every single Saturday. Watching him after the game, you could feel how happy he was. It feels good knowing that we have a guy like him pulling strings to make sure we keep winning.

I think Chaney is doing a good job, actually, at least from what I've watched. Personally, I think they should have given Fields more time on Saturday. But, that's easy for a random Joe to say. It's tough to go through the SEC without losing a game, and it's just one game. UGA realistically still has everything to play for, so some of their fans need to chill. With that said...lol...we have no room to talk. Passionate fans are bipolar. We might have the most bipolar in the country.

JG and the WRs had to have earned the coaches' trust. They executed at a high level. But I'm guessing they'll dial it back against Bama and try to get the running game going. Hope Helton stays on the sideline. He'd rather call plays from the box, but it helped having him interact with the players.

JG mentioned it had a positive impact on him having Helton on the sideline. Can’t remember the full quote but JG said something along the lines of it helped to get a better feel of Heltons play calls and why he was calling certain plays. Makes sense. Much easier to communicate your vision face to face then over a headset.
