If I had my way I'd rest every starter. I know we're supposed to pretend that every game matters but this year there's absolutely zero chance against BAMA and no reason to risk the rest of the season by pretending that there is.

With that kind of thinking, we might as well forfeit. It would achieve the same thing wouldn't it? Would you do that, if you could? I wouldn't.

Run on first down between the tackles ensures that the clock will run, whereas an incomplete pass or run out of bounds stops the clock.

I get that, but couldn’t you just as easily run up the middle on second down?

The season is more important than one game. I wouldn't forfeit but I also wouldn't risk valuable players beyond the first quarter. Alabama is a bigger buzzsaw this year than they've been in Saban's entire time there and that's saying something. We have a team without much depth that only just now learned how to win. The last thing we need is to throw them around like they're cannon fodder.

But why was so much time put back on the clock? That’s 15 seconds! The hit caused a fumble that they recovered in bounds. The clock should have continued to run, even after the review for targeting. However, the head official did not wind the clock after everything was set. Why? Terrible officiating!

I still had the game on my DVR so I went back and watched the last few plays again to watch the call. The play with the targeting did end at 1:12. They ran the clock because the fumble was recovered in bounds and it took some time for the scorekeeper to realize there was a flag.

The guy that got tackled at the sidelines kind of bounced out of bounds. It was closer than I had thought at the time but his tail definitely landed in bounds. The announcer was as surprised as we were.

The TD catch didn't look like a catch to me. He definitely wasn't 'flipping' it behind his back, he was losing the ball. It's possible he had it for a split second after he landed but it sure looked to me like he never secured the ball and it was moving the whole time. I'm shocked it wasn't at least reviewed.

Think there's a chance Tua doesn't play this week. I just want to see us play solid fundamental football, and stay healthy. Continue to improve from week to week.
