He came back right after he said 1:03 and said 1:12.. I definitely heard it but the clock should have been running on 2 plays that home cooking stopped.
On the TD pass at the end I didn't even notice yesterday but I watched the replay today and he did NOT have control. Maybe he was being cute w the ball but he never controlled it..
But why was so much time put back on the clock? That’s 15 seconds! The hit caused a fumble that they recovered in bounds. The clock should have continued to run, even after the review for targeting. However, the head official did not wind the clock after everything was set. Why? Terrible officiating!

This tells me that Helton and Pruitt intentionally decided to run the ball on first down in the second half to shorten the game.

I enjoy watching - but never played organized - football. Basketball was my sport. So an honest, ignorant question here. What’s the difference between running on 1st down or 2nd down if your goal is to run clock? Couldn’t we have mixed in a pass on first down and run on second down on occasion?

Against Bama, I wouldn’t play anyone that is the slightest bit banged up.
And I would protect a lot of my starters too by not playing them once we get down by three touchdowns. Bama, with or without Tua, is not winnable. Our last five all are.

Sounds like what Butch used to do in this game. I think that sends the wrong message to the team.

I also (at this point) don’t think Pruitt has that in his DNA. I’m expecting he will try to scheme to win.

I’m intrigued by the game. Likely a big loss but I bet the team comes out with an attitude.

Run on first down between the tackles ensures that the clock will run, whereas an incomplete pass or run out of bounds stops the clock.

Yeah, I doubt Pruitt backs down from anyone.

One thing's for sure...I'm not taking these kinds of moments for granted.

It still feels so good.

Agreed. I declared in the darkest hours of the Dooley years I would never take another bowl game or top 25 season for granted. I enjoyed most of 2014 through 2016, including the bowl wins.

Likewise games like yesterday clearly don’t come around often. I enjoyed it. Have had numerous SEC fans (Bama, UGA, Florida) say they were impressed with the win. Auburn is down but no one thought we had a prayer. Definitely a proud day to be a Vol!

It begs the question, how long does the receiver have to possess it? Half a second, one second, two seconds.

He held it for a shorter duration than some receivers do when diving to the ground in the end zone and ultimately fumbling it.

The clock shouldn't have run after a penalty

Yeah that ain't Pruitt. He'll be gunning for the W.
