dunno if he has to get 85% of the carries. he needs to be on the field 85% of the time and get touches. lots of them. line him up wide, in the slot, behind center, behind/beside JG.......

and i do think Banks should get more carries. provided he's eanred the trust to not put it on the ground. London and Jordan can spell.

Nope. Make Chandler the primary ball carrier and stop farting around with this time share. It doesn't work. Banks fumbles because he is cold off the bench. They want to go old school power I, go old school with giving the RB 25 carries.

I get what they want to do and I get that they thought they could do it. A lot of us thought they'd be able to do it better than they have. But five games in, it's clear that they're going to have to adapt the offense if we're going to win some SEC games. Changing a few things is worth a try.
agree. i just don't think it requires wholesale changes to what you want to do fundamentally. you do have to, at some point, do what you do best more than what you want to be able to do best. that'll come later.

give these kids, and the fans, something to feel hopeful about the rest of the season. losing sucks.

Yes. When things aren't working one way, I like to try different things instead of doing the same thing over and over and hoping for different results. Einstein had a theory on that.
I believe when the guys we have start being able to execute the very simplest of football plays without multiple breakdowns on..EVERY..STINKING..PLAY..Then you will see more "creativity". Until then get used to seeing what you see.

You guys bowing at the altar of Meh with your coach envy is sickening. Dan Mullen is a good coach, but if Jeremy Pruitt is having a hard time recruiting at Tennessee, then Mehlan would have been toast here. He is a good place for him to succeed.

If you guys can't see how fundamentally footbaw stupid, slow and soft..the triple whammy of suckitude...that this roster is..Then you are just willingly and stupidly blind.

NOBODY..would be doing any better with this roster to this point...NOBODY..If Pruitt can get these guys playing any better, and he already has imo, then he will have done a great job this year overall.

A lot of people on here were saying how we have a talented roster but butch was just a cars salesmen.

I just think it’s fair to say that a lot of people snubbed their noses at “mehlen” and it wasn’t the worst thing in the world that we went after him. Hell some people snubbed their noses at the thought of jimbo Fisher lol

there's some truth here. we lined up incorrectly on 3 straight punts...lol.

there is a classic "crawl before walk, walk before run" theme here......

Then fail at doing something different. It's pretty simple, and it's a theme in life. If you fail at something over and over again, try something different.

But if you scheme a few plays where execution on the lines doesn't have to be perfect, then it might work.

yep, and the truth is CBJ was a care salesman, and we way over valued the roster. fans do what fans do.

dunno. seems that would play in to the biggest weakness on the offense, the O line. not saying we shouldn't run the ball.

but i'd just find additional ways to get the ball in his hands, besides a hand off. you can do both, and you see it a lot today with guys like Mcaffery and Kamara. not saying Chandler is THAT good. but he has a ver similar skill set.

use it.

Franks has a 51% vs P5 teams this year, averaging only 6.8 YPA, with 3 INT’s and 6 TD’s.

The only reason Franks is even completing 51% is because he completed 22 of 31 passes vs MSU, but the far majority were screen passes and within 3 yards of LOS because they were too scared he’d a make a mistake.

I don’t think Mullen was scared Franks was going to make a mistake. Mullen knows what MSU has in the front seven, and saw that Shoup, inexplicably, was playing his DBs 7-10 yards off the ball. So, he ate MSUs defense alive by throwing WR screen after WR screen for five yards a pop, and Shoup didn’t adjust.

Or pass, pass, interception or strip sack and TD the other way...which is what would happen a lot with this OL and these QBs.
No way to know that for sure.

Plenty of teams with bad OLs emphasize the quick passing game because even a god awful OL can keep a QB upright if you’re getting the ball out in 2 seconds or less.

Working in some more quick throws or rollouts on early downs doesn’t necessarily mean we’d see more sacks. Hell, even just adding some misdirection here and there might help the run game out a bit.

Just vary things up a bit more and don’t make what you’re gonna do so obvious to opponents. Any OC making $1.2 million should be able to do that at least. Being predictable by running too much or passing too much makes everybody’s job harder when the OL struggles like ours does.

I agree get the ball in his hands in different ways, just saying let him take the vast majority of RB touches.

Mehlan would have been better than almost everybody we went after..I have said that a gazillion times. I just don't believe he would have come close to recruiting well enough at UT to do much better than he did at MSU. At UF he doesn't have to be an ace recruiter to recruit well. It is the perfect situation for him. He gets to ride what is left of the Urban coatails in Florida...he will do better there than he would have anywhere else. He will always be hard to beat for us there.

Pruitt got the short end of the coaching carousel stick imo. A raw lunatic fan base with zero patience, a brutal schedule, OJT taking it's pound of flesh and a roster on par with the worst in P5 football...

Not a recipe for much success, but I'm pulling for him to make it, I believe he and the staff are all really good football coaches..but I just really doubt he will. The Barbarians are already marching on the gates and it is just a few games into his tenure. Just no patience or understanding from this fanbase left.

And that is also understandable...trust me I get it, but I just think it is so counter-productive to the future, to be hyper-critical of these guys now. We need them to at least get better, tougher, more fundamentally sound football players in here to ever have a chance of rejoining the elite..where we belong. If we tear these guys down, instead of defend them at the grassroots level..it will make doing that much harder.

So I will do my part and toe that company line...even if I have some of the same concerns.
