Inclined to agree. Don't think there's even any precedent of a team coming back after being down as long as we have at this point (while playing such tough competition and the roster being as bad as ours is). Tack on another 3-5 years of sucking or mediocrity and a full comeback will be hard to envision.
It's obviously been proven that you can win big at Tennessee, but if he doesn't work out, I just don't think it's coming back. By then Fulmer will have retired, Haslam will likely hire the next AD and head football coach, and it'll all be over with but the crying IMO. UGA and UF are both superior programs to Tennessee in the east, we play Alabama every year, etc. Not many coaches are going to walk into that, when the name brand has took a huge hit, hard to recruit the type of players you need here, etc.

Being in the SEC is so tough if you aren't in a naturally talent rich area. When you're down other teams will just step on your neck week after week and make it nearly impossible to get back up. Doesn't help when the administration isn't all-in on football.

Get rid of the Bama game. It’s time.

I think the administration is all in - we sure spend lots of money on football. We gotta forget our past and traditions and think outside the box to get this fixed, I think.

Yeah I'm dumb. I remember people overreacting after that 2015 OU win and thought he posted that game. :(

Yeah I saw the last 5 games have been decided by a TD or less. These two teams play each other really hard each year. Wish we did that with UF.

Agreed. It seems like rivalry games always have surprising outcomes every few years. Weird things happen. But we just seem to consistently either get pummeled (Bama) or find bizarre ways to lose (UF). Thank God for 2016. Without that win I'd be pretty convinced we'd go 20+ years without beating Florida.

Our game with SCjr always seems to be close and have wild storylines. Just something about playing them it seems

We had that season in 2016 and got blown out by Vanderbilt.

Butch really had everything set up in his favor to win big at Tennessee and to cement his position here for a long time. The 2014 and 2015 classes were so promising and a lot of that talent was panning out.

The halftime announcers for the OU-Texas game just said that they should just go ahead and send Bama to the playoff and not have them play another game. 100% agree that it is just not fun anymore.

Alright sorry guys I’m not nearly as negative as I sound. I think we snag two SEC wins this year and I think if we give Pruitt time and space he will have us in a good spot where we are fun to watch.

I do confess I don’t think we will get to the college football playoffs anytime soon unless they expand it a bunch. I’ve started to lose faith that we are that kind of program in the modern era of the SEC.
