It's obviously been proven that you can win big at Tennessee, but if he doesn't work out, I just don't think it's coming back. By then Fulmer will have retired, Haslam will likely hire the next AD and head football coach, and it'll all be over with but the crying IMO. UGA and UF are both superior programs to Tennessee in the east, we play Alabama every year, etc. Not many coaches are going to walk into that, when the name brand has took a huge hit, hard to recruit the type of players you need here, etc.Inclined to agree. Don't think there's even any precedent of a team coming back after being down as long as we have at this point (while playing such tough competition and the roster being as bad as ours is). Tack on another 3-5 years of sucking or mediocrity and a full comeback will be hard to envision.
Being in the SEC is so tough if you aren't in a naturally talent rich area. When you're down other teams will just step on your neck week after week and make it nearly impossible to get back up. Doesn't help when the administration isn't all-in on football.
Yeah I saw the last 5 games have been decided by a TD or less. These two teams play each other really hard each year. Wish we did that with UF.
Agreed. It seems like rivalry games always have surprising outcomes every few years. Weird things happen. But we just seem to consistently either get pummeled (Bama) or find bizarre ways to lose (UF). Thank God for 2016. Without that win I'd be pretty convinced we'd go 20+ years without beating Florida.
Get rid of the Bama game. It’s time.
I think the administration is all in - we sure spend lots of money on football. We gotta forget our past and traditions and think outside the box to get this fixed, I think.
