Four Different Pass Catchers have caught balls of 50+ yards (we had only 4 total plays of 50+ yards all of last season): Palmer, Callaway, Pope, Murphy.
Sophomore Palmer Showing Flashes: Josh Palmer is averaging 25 yards per reception, with 8 total catches. He's also averaging 7.8 yards per carry on 4 end-around rushes. He's emerging as the Vols greatest big play threat.
Guarantano Showing Improvement:
Last year Guarantano played in 9 games, tallying 997 yards on 86/139 passing, with 4 TDs and 2 Int, and a 7.2 avg/p.
This year, after only 5 games Guarantano is already at 801 yards on 59/93 passing, with 4 TDs and 2 Int, and a 8.6 avg/p.
His completion percentage is up a tick from 62% to 63% so far this season as well.
Jucos Leading the Way in the Defensive Trenches: Emmit Gooden leads the Vols with 4 TFL, and Alexis Johnson is T-2 with 3 TFL.
Darrell Taylor Coming Alive: R-Jr Darrell Taylor's stat line is looking better after the Georgia game, he now has with 3 Sacks and 2 FF on the season.
Linebackers Lead in Tackles: Junior linebackers Daniel Bituli and Darrin Kirkland Jr. lead the Vols in tackles with 26 and 23 respectively. Surprising Sophmore Will Ignont has tallied 18 tackles and is third in the LB group.
Punter U: Joe Doyle is averaging 42.44 yards per punt on 25 attempts, with 9 fair catches, 11 inside the 20, and 5 punts of 50+ yards.
Steady Kicking: Cimaglia is 4/4 of FGs and has made all his XP so far this season.
