Kentucky should be a shining example to us. Get a good coach and back off and give him space to implement his system and get his players.

Stoops would have been tarred, feathered and ultimately drowned in the Tennessee River by his third year if he was our coach with his 12-24 record. Then three years later (year 6) we’d still be sitting here tarring and feathering the next coach, and wondering why our administration can’t just pony up the money to buy someone that can come in and win all the big games in their first year because we are a top 10 all time program blah blah blah.

I wonder if he'll be able to sustain this level of success once those 14 senior starters are gone after this season.

I'm not sure we can say UT is a top ten program anymore

No they won't but he is taking them to their ceiling as a program.

Once ever decade a 9-10 win team. 6-7 Times 6-8 wins and a few misses a bowl game. That's Kentucky ceiling imo

I haven't heard anyone say Smart isn't legit because he lost in the national title game.

There is absolutely no guarantee that Mullen will succeed at Florida. As I recall, Muschamp and McElwain both had a good debut season at Florida.

How did their tenures at Florida end?
Champ went 6-6. The only reason Mac was successful is because he took over an elite defense and the East was at an all time low. It’s no coincidence he went 4-7 when he lost most of Champs defense

So are you saying we should have given Dooley or Butch ore time?

That's because we wait too long to fire our coaches. Dooley and Butch were here one year too long. That's two years of sub par recruiting classes. Couple that with attrition over 2-3 years, then you end up where we are.

Don't forget the fiasco of our Athletic Director that lasted what two, three months and our Admin dept stupidity during the coaching hire. The embarrassment and shame they brought on this program. They alone set this program back for years and then (do I even dare say his name ) HE came in and faked his way for 3 yrs with Conference USA recruits. We need to remember this when we all (putting my hand up first) get frustrated with this staff. We need to give this staff a chance. We can't keep rolling coaches through here like a donuts factory. This is jmo but I believe we need to roll the dice this this staff. They are all proven winners and come from winning programs. Yes CP is new to the HC job but I think he will be fine and will learn so much this year. I loved his interview where he got emotional about this team. They will love him for that and will fight to the end for a coach like that. GBO!

A QB with no touch on the football. Throws a AK 47 bullet pass on short passes. He can't read a defense or pick up a blitz. No feel for the game for example handing the ball off to his RB who got blasted instead of keeping it. Stares down his number one receiver every time. Looks fake when he's fired up on the sidelines unlike Dobbs who always looked authentic when he tried to get everyone hyped. Scrambles like he's running in mud. Touchdown pass was short and lucky because the receiver was covered by a linebacker interecepted if he was covered by anyone else. Doesn't lead his receivers on any passes. Looks like a deer in headlights. Football IQ is not high. This kid is not the future of the program. I'll take a mature senior from the West Coast who's won ten games can manage the game and read defenses and give us a fighting chance. Regardless of who you won those games against you still have to go out there and win them. That's experience. But hey JG is the "future" of the program.

That was brutal and ruthless, but I agree

We'll know by year 3 if CJP is going to get it done. More importantly , coach Fulmer will too. If after year 3 we're not expecting a pretty dang good year 4, we'll know he's not the guy. Did we expect a good year four from Dooley? Did we expect a good year 5 from Butch? After the locker room drama? After the rumored turmoil? After the defections? I knew after the KY loss it was over for Dooley. I knew after the Hurd stuff and the other collapses Butch was done. We'll know after after year 3 with Pruitt. Hanging on to bad coaches too long is just as bad or worse than letting an average coach go too early.

By no means do we hang with bad coaching and I think we will start seeing a difference this year not necessarily in wins but in mentality and I think we will see the difference in these players as the year goes. Getting Butch ways of doing things isn't going to get out of these players over night. But I do believe we saw shades of a new mentality tonight. To make clear, not saying roll with CP if no improvement over the next few years but just remember the crap this school went through and the hiring of another bad coach.
