Here is my non-insider, far-on-the-outside outsider take: Chryst should be QB, but it won't happen.

Remember back when it was Dormady v. JG? Seems i remember reports about the team wanting JG to start over Dormady. They responded better to him, or something to that effect. Well that has been forged in the minds of our offense.

Chryst is the new guy. He's older. He is from the far-West coast and played for austere Stanford. He is probably having difficulty connecting with the players, and the returning players from last year are firmly in support of JG. It's an uphill battle, and because of these circumstances the offense around Chryst plays worse than when JG is under center.

What i saw when Chryst came in to the game were bad, low snaps. The OL didn't improve. If memory serves me, the receivers started letting up more too. The only person to show any life, any hope of a comeback with Chryst in the game was Banks - the new guy without ties to JG.

JG's passing yards this year by game:
172
154
168
164
KC posted a 19/26 258 yards 3 TDs vs Oregon in 2016. KC is more than just a hand the ball off QB.
He peaked against a 2016 Oregon team that had one of the worst defenses CFB has seen this side of 2010. Big whoop.

He's our backup. Either the coaches thought he'd be better and didn't realize how bad he is or (more likely) knew they had very little chance of keeping JG healthy this year.

You’re telling me out of his 13 passing attempts you haven’t seen how much better he is? lol you gotta remember the backup QB is always better

Swing and a miss. The back-up won many more games than he lost and performed better at his previous gig than the current starter has in his starts. There is a reasonable debate to be had on who should be starting. Of course that will not change who CJP chooses.

Soooo how does that prove that he’s the better QB for this team?

I don't get how people can bash the kid considering how utterly disgusting our offensive line has been. But I digress...

His best days are ahead of him. Given an offensive line, he'll become good enough to get drafted.

At this point, I’ll have to disagree.

Even when given time he hasn’t shown the ability to hit the deep ball the way an SEC QB should. Our receivers are always having to adjust on anything longer than 20 yards.

That’s a big jump to make. They are a lot of QBs that find a way to be productive In worse situations than ours.

I kinda wish they'd let Chryst take the next couple of games. No use getting somebody we'll need in 2019 hurt in 3 games we've got 0 chance of winning. Chryst is a big dude who should be able to handle the hits UGA, Auburn, and Bama will give to our QB

Being tough does not correlate to being a good QB

I wasn't suggesting just his toughness made him good. I was pointing to how you really can't make an accurate assessment as to how good he is considering he has zero protection.

He gets hit every snap. We keep 7 in to block, and they get beat by 4-5 guys. He's trying to find three guys vs 5 or 6 in coverage and still getting pressured.

Really? There's an abundance of more productive QB's who are on their third offensive coordinator in three years, have less than a full years starting experience, play in the SEC, and have no offensive line?

Please give me some names....

Peterman was pretty good at Pitt... they had coaching turnover and we can all agree a worse roster than us. Shurmer at vandy has outplayed JG. Does Missouri have that much better of a roster than us? Lock is playing strong under a new OC who a lot of people on here wouldn’t trust to coach their 11 year old team.

It’s nearly impossible to be objective about JG around here.

So far he has proven to be the worst QB to put on a jersey. But, you should continue your bs. He might very well be the best QB on campus but he’s the worst on all the campuses in the SEC

One sided. You are dismissing the fact that chryst puts the ball in the dirt every other throw. He is not very accurate at all. Neither was dobbs but dobbs had legs and made moves to keep us in the game. Chryst does not have legs.
