i think this is pruitt's biggest challenge, and unfortunately, it may not totally resolve itself until there's some "addition by subtraction"....and the sooner the better, the last thing you want is that attitude seeping down from the veterans on this roster to the younger guys that have no other frame of reference.

i think the only thing that could really fix that issue this season is if we actually pulled off a win sometime in the next 4 games.

and i don't see that happening, which is why those last 4 games have a bleak outlook. i said it before the WVU game and UF game, this team needs good things to happen....early. they have no confidence, and everytime they've been put in a situation like that, they've folded. the 1st drive against WVU, the turnover barrage against FL etc...

hard to change your identity when that's your identity........tough job, no doubt.

Yep, I was right there with you. Another reason why a UF win was so important. Going into a brutal 4-game stretch, the team needed to feel good about themselves. A humiliating loss to a rival-- the worst in program history-- isn't exactly a confidence builder for a mentally weak team that's going to be out-talented for most of October. It's going to be tough to change the mindset of the older players-- too many negatives are ingrained. Develop and play the young guys-- that's the future.

I absolutely believe that is true in regards to freezing up when the lights come on - but a certain percentage of the issue has to be that both sides of the ball suck so when they perform well in practice it artificially inflates one side or another.

I'm sure that contributes. We just have a lot of issues-- some obvious; some unforeseen.

agree, and that's why i've kinda gotten off the whole "looking for things we need to do now to win games now".

this year is a wash imo. i don't see the point in making what might be wholesale changes to what the plan is now, just to win a game or two that in the grand scheme, just aren't gonna matter.

stick to the plan. i see folks talking about changing qbs, returners, rb's, or whatever personnel changes they think will make "the difference". or how we need to change the scheme to do this or that....

why? cause we need to beat KY or MO?

meh.

there's going to be a ton of guys that come back next year, that need to roll in to spring, summer and fall camp next year knowing what to do, how to do it, and how to get the next class to do it too.

you can't do that if you spend the rest of this year tinkering with things in hopes of manufactuering a win that probably just isn't gonna happen.

get guys reps, develop this roster........i'm moving on to the long game at this point.

Well said sir. It's all about development at this point.

Watched some highlights of Florida game and truly amazing that as bad as it was if our WRs and TEs would have held onto the ball on some great JG throws under pressure we could have been right back in it.

Callaway had 2 TDs right in his hands he couldn't finish.

Pope touchback fumble cost a TD.

DWA let contact affect a catchable 4th down throw then another potential big play where if he caught he had lot of room to run.

No idea how palmer doesn't hold the deep bomb.

If BJ doesn't trip or is tougher he stays up and can high point that ball for a TD instead of Interception.

All this plus the turnovers just wow so many missed opportunities that we may be having different conversations about offense without turnovers and the playmakers making plays they should make

Johnson got mugged. It is why Pruitt got a penalty lol

Come on, newt. What have you seen from Chryst on the field to make you believe that? So the staff is just starting Guarantano just to keep him? That's ridiculous.
Newt thinks Chryst is better at handing off. That dude is a good backup to have, and I sm grateful, but I don't think he has ever shown anything to say he is any better that JG.

Gaurantano is not a problem, but he will not last much longer IMO, I think he will be hurt badly at some point the next few weeks, and Chryst will be lucky to survive the defenses we are going to face also.

Our OL is going to get them both killed.

we have nothing to talk about in here lol. spinning in circles

you happy now? been nearly 20 minutes without a post in here......

JG is clearly the more talented arm...but...KC is clearly the more talented mind. I could build a decent case why the latter is more important with a busted OL.

I’m assuming from reading the tea leaves that Pruitt is a demanding perfectionist coach

Some guys might be getting tight bc of that and not being used to that standard, but they will see that outside the locker room Pruitt never blames them, he always takes the blame and these guys are gonna start trusting him and see that he does have their back

It simply isn't possible to say with a straight face that in these 4 games we have seen KC exhibit a "clearly more talented mind". That's really absurd to be honest

To the people arguing that KC is better.... just consider this:

Last week we saw JG get physically destroyed. Left the game because of injury.

This week, he’s starting against UGA.

The coaching staff have been with him since the spring. KC in the fall. They know better than anyone who each of them is.

If KC was better, or deserving to start, then it would be so easy for the coaching staff to pull JG aside and say ‘Listen, you’re banged up. This isn’t a benching - we’re gonna give KC some run while you heal. We’ll reevaluate in a couple weeks.’

You don’t upset JGs psyche. You don’t create a QB benching controversy in Knoxville. It’s the perfect opportunity.

The fact that they’re sticking with JG - whether you think he sucks or not - should be telling.

JG is the best quarterback on this roster.

You’re telling me out of his 13 passing attempts you haven’t seen how much better he is? lol you gotta remember the backup QB is always better

I haven't seen the UGA peeps I'd expect to be talking about it say a word so I think it's just a rumor being pushed to Vol fans.
I just know when this kind of stuff is "leaked" about other teams, it's never true, but when it's leaked about Tennessee, it's a Bob Meuller special.

That’s fair but the areas in which JG has an advantage in, he hasn’t really shown it or benefited from.

He’s more athletic but doesn’t really move around in the pocket and evade pressure. He has more arm talent but has often times underthrown and floated balls downfield.

Tallest midget.

Newt is right, from what I've seen, Chryst does a better job handing off-- JG has a more accurate arm. We need both of them in this upcoming house of horrors. We may need all four of them..
