Many, many cases are simply he said/she said. I am not just talking about sexual assault cases. But I find it disgusting that people simply discount the story because it wasn't reported timely. I'd wager that every single male on this board has a family member that was sexually assaulted that never reported it.

I notice you avoided the police part , I guess you didn’t want to tackle that one . The first thing I would do is ask her why she did come to me when it happened so we could get to the bottom of it and maybe prevent it from happening again . Then I would ask her what she wants to do about it , reassure her again telling her everything will be ok no matter what . I’d also explain why it will be very hard to prove something that old without witness and that if you decide to go public with it , you will have people that believe and disbelieve you without solid proof .

Is she credible? Did she tell her therapist about this event 6+ years ago? There is a lot that I want to hear. Completely discounting the story because she didn't report is not right either. Over the course of my life, I have met many women that disclosed sexual assaults to me. I'd say the majority of women have such a story. The vast majority (8/10) never report. It is not because it didn't happen.

So 8 out of 10 don't report it and we know in those cases that it its true?
