Interesting comment from Ainge to open his show this morning

Does anyone remember a player, whose name was Houston. I can't remember if that was his first name or last
name, but, I do remember that he was like a suicide bomber on kickoffs or punt returns. He would often hit the
returner like a ton of bricks. Initially, he was a walkon, but, he really liked to hit. He really did give his all for
Tennessee. Please show me the people on this team, who really like to hit. I am sure that some of them do. I just
can't identify who they are. Maybe, if we had had nothing but the kicker and linebackers on the kicking team on the
onsides kick, we may have had an excellent chance of getting the ball. We certainly had a lot of watchers on
that kick, but, I did not see one single hitter!

Some of the people on this forum are downright awful. His past aside unless you ran through that T he has way more credence when he speaks about UT football than you'll ever be privy to.

My post was not intended to attack Ainge....but the FACTS remain--and he admitted them himself....
Erik Ainge opens up about drug addiction

And I don't care what you say--a dude that admits to being addicted to drugs since he was 12 years old--and going around committing felonies in buying narcotics while at UT was NOT giving his ALL for the VOLS. And yes--it is and has always been a felony to sell/buy narcotics like hydrocodone on the street.

So--I would counsel Ainge to just shut the he&% up about any of the players at UT. He certainly doesn't have much room to talk!

I think most Vol fans know the story, after all you *even* had a link. It still doesn't explain why you would post what you did.

My mama was right....If you don't have anything good to say then keep your mouth shut. Your post brought no relevance to the conversation. It was simply an attack on Ainge. I hope it made you feel better.

What the actual hell is wrong with you?

What the actual hell is wrong with you?

Not a darn thing....What's wrong with you?

I just don't want to hear a guy like Ainge run his hypocritical mouth about players on this current team not "...giving their all for Tennessee..." when he failed to give his all for Tennessee when he was a player.

Now--If Al Wilson, Fred White, Eric Berry, Will Overstreet, T. Martin, Cosey Coleman, Bill Duff, or others would've said it--I would have no problem. But Ainge can just shut up....instead of just running his mouth on a radio show. It's called an opinion--and I ain't asking YOU to agree with it....

Agreed. But we just dont have the depth to play all FR. We have to RS some guys. Even you have to agree, it must be tough on the staff when you dont have the quality depth you know you need.
I dont literally mean all freshman. There are upperclassmen that have grit and want to play. I mean just replace the guys that are not performing we have nothing to lose.

I gotcha. And I completely agree with that. Hopefully moving forward, Pruitt will find the right combination of guys. I am hopeful he will.

Yeah I just want an OL that can block. Rip the sign down for all I care.

Kinda the point.. not gonna block without the right attitude.. the right attitude would lead them to slapping the sign because they care. Sports are extremely mental

Its a good thing those people don't make the decisions. Otherwise we would be out another coach, another $20 million buyout, and nobody would want to coach here. Its really funny to me that folks have already forgotten how difficult it was to get someone to take this job, not just this last search, but the last 3. Every time it sets the program back due to instability. No real proven coaches want to come here (the ones without baggage anyway). Patience is the only thing we can afford right now, as a fanbase. I just wish Fulmer would stand up, support his hire, and calm the fanbase down.
I'm behind Pruitt and this staff 110%, but to say nobody wanted this job is inaccurate. Please stop telling that lie. It's a matter of fact that we could have had Jeff Brohm or Mike Leach and both of those guys would have been great choices as well.
At the time, I wanted Mike Leach because he already has years of head coaching experience, is a brilliant offensive mind, and has a history of winning with less talent.

How did he not give it all as a player?

I hope you never have the misfortune of having to deal with addiction in your family.

But saying someone is a lesser person because they struggled with addiction is absolutely disgusting.

In all fairness, that first real hit that JG took was a blitz off the left side that Ty Chandler didn't pick up, instead he chose to help DWA who was beat off the snap. Personally, I am a big London fan and wished he would have gotten more touches.
It was Jordan.

It is wrong to think that all the players that Butch left are apathetic. Sure there are some that are apathetic. It’s easy to see how that could happen to a player who has given it his best shot for three years and got zero return on that investment. Those apathetic players will be gone soon. I expect many to leave when the season is over.
Pruitt is still trying to figure out who will buy into this new program and who will not. Those that do not buy will not get to play, but he hast to give everybody a chance to see the light. After the next five games we will know who has bought in and who has not.

My brother, cousin, and aunt are alcoholics so yes addiction is a real thing. Nothing to joke about or make fun of.

Yes its his responsibility. Do you think that gets fixed quickly? If so, explain how.

What? Caring?

And I guess you'd have to define "quickly". After 4 games, I'm not expecting a championship-calber team. But I would hope we could block and tackle and maybe hold onto the ball. And when our starting QB gets cheap-shot'd and knocked out of the game, it would be nice if our head coach seemed to care.

And while we're at it, I would hope he wouldn't have an altercation with a player whereby he and that player have diametrically opposed versions of the story and he just brushes it off like it is nothing. I think that could be pretty much a Day One expectation.

I'm an addict that's honestly trying. Should I shut the hell up?
I'll see myself out.

Im also a addict that is trying everyday. Started taking pills for back pain from working 13 hours a day 6 days a week . Then it grabbed me..I was young and had no knowledge of them. The doctor just said here take these . Then had another do the same when I tested positive for Lupus several times. Finally after 5 years I said no..I'm not where I want to be but I'm sure not what I was. Its a fight you don't ever want to wake up in. It's all about fighting the flesh like the Book tells us. I've learned alot and know what people who have this issue so now I can help them. With that even if I had a chance to go back and say no, there is no way I would. To many people need help to just save myself..And to the other caller Cedric HOUSTON was a running back when I was growing up. If I recall correctly #21 always wore white cleats

I want all of them to have the fire that Banks has when he puts on the uniform.. Our seniors just dont have it
Banks & Jennings... both seem to get out there & play with the most heart, fire & intensity on every single play... would love a team full of that!!
