Interesting comment from Ainge to open his show this morning

In contrast, Pruitt keeps reaffirming that he didn't see guys give up. He said it multiple times in his press conferences. Kinda disagreeing with what the press was saying. Is he just taking responsibility and covering for them? Or did he really not notice it? I felt like I was counting the plays in which I saw someone or multiple guys just giving up. I dunno, but yeah everybody has to commit to giving it their all if we're going to get anywhere as a team.

This may sound odd coming from me but at some point we will hit rock bottom. We thought we had in other years. We may not have hit it last Saturday. But at some point we will absolutely hit it. And from then on, even though there will be good and bad days, we will be on our way up. Maybe, just maybe Saturday with UF was that game and we will see some signs of life from our program. Maybe it happens later this season. I dont know. But i know this, the rise back up to whatever level of success we attain will be very very sweet indeed.
Great post !!!!!!

Pruitt knew it was a snake when he picked it up. Or, he should have, everyone else did.
Either way the weight rests upon his shoulders not Butch's.
He's the Captain of this ship

he may be the captain but he's not a miracle worker.

They were about to fire him because that 2010 season was worse than Bowden's last few years, and they fired Bowden because 8-5/9-4 was deemed not good enough.

Until the last few years Clemson was a perennial underachiever. They don't have as much history as some other schools but are in prime recruiting territory and in the ACC, which they know is easier to win than the SEC.
Which would have been asinine in a second year for a new HC. That year wasn't any worse that Bowdens bad years.

I'm not sure how you describe it but they were pretty average to bad for 2 decades prior to Swinney regardless of what they expect or whatever the see as advantages.

Are you sick? I don’t think I’ve read a post from that has even resembled anything positive in awhile yet I’ve even two this thread lol. I agree 100% with your post though. It always gets worse before it gets better. It’s darkest right before dawn.

I can be honest about our team performance and my lack of faith in CJP so far and still acknowledge at some point our program will improve. Im not a sour puss just for the sake of being one.

I’m not buying it. New schemes that have to be learned to the point of it being instinct.

I’m not ready to pitch them all out. Seems like every time our guys reacted to a cheap shot or some trash talk we get the penalty. They’ve been throwing flags on good hits for a while now. With rabbit ear refs we have to mind our Ps and Qs.

We’ll see how our guys respond this week. I doubt Smart will allow his players sleep walk this weekend, if he does don’t be too surprised if the chips fall our way.
Georgia will absolutely destroy us lol it's gonna be worse than last year

Glad to hear it. I’m in a wait and see with Pruitt. Neither here nor there. The team sucks it’s the cold hard truth. But I’ve seen to many threads and posts judging a new HC through just 4 games. I honestly hope he can turn things around. I like the man as a coach he’s a straight shooter but there has to be some Reasonable results by year 2 and 3. I’m really tired of the swinging door effect.

As far as giving HCs whatever amount of time to show results, Saban and Chizik kinda screwed 'em all by winning NCs in their second year at their respective SEC schools. Now, admittedly, Chizik had Cam Newton and Saban, well, he's Saban but I guarantee you there's a subset of every fanbase that points to those two whenever they hire a new coach.

They just can't wrap their heads around the fact that without Chizik (and Cam Newton) Saban is the exception that proves the rule.

It's not like we have a complete offensive line just waiting their turns. Freshmen or not.
I've said it before, it takes years to turn a high school boy into an SEC caliber offensive lineman. Late sophomore early Junior year before they are truly ready. That's if they have the talent and heart to begin with. Pretty much can be said for the D line. This downward spiral started with Dooley and Jones continued the cancer.

It's going to be awhile before this lack of talent and heart can be built.

Uh bama basically won the title with half the field made up of freshmen going against another freshmen qb. Trevor Lawrence just got named the starter over a senior and the guy can ball. It doesn't take years it just takes the right talent

I'm not rushing him. I'm more than willing to withhold judgement. He's here for awhile so what's the rush to the gnashing of teeth. You won't hear me bashing CJP but I'm not singing praises either, yet.

He signed on for a huge job, however he's being compensated well, and on the job training will be tough under the microscope he's chosen.

So I am confused, Ainge is saying the players have responsibility for hw bad the team is? But how can that be? How can these upperclassmen not have any fight or heart? Why are some saying play Pruitts freshman recruits over Butchs upperclassmen?

If they don't care, isn't it the responsibility of the head coach to rectify that? Oh, wait...Pruitt said in today's press conference that he didn't bother submitting video of that play to the conference office for review. He actually complimented the Florida player for playing hard. So, uh...yeah.

Yes its his responsibility. Do you think that gets fixed quickly? If so, explain how.

I thought rock bottom was losing to KY with a WR playing QB.

Last year proved me wrong on that thought.

I am behind CJP but there are tougher days ahead, and I dread them.

Yall actually think Pruitt cares? Pruitt is a redbone Gump. And it reflects in the players. Its hard to be passionate about something that your not. Im NOT saying he doesnt care about winning. Winning will make him more money. But he certainly isnt a VFL by any stretch of thd imagination. Go back and listen to his comment to Blob about running ghrough the T for the first time. Itll tell you all you need to know.

I didn’t catch that quote. Paraphrase if you will.

“These young players don’t know what they don’t know yet. And the older players on this team aren’t going to learn it here, at this stage in their life development. It’s really sad. When you slap that sign that says ‘I will give my all for Tennessee today,’ it either, to every fiber of your being, matters to you, or it doesn’t. I think there’s a lot of guys on this team that have been here for a few years that they may not even slap that sign when they go to run out though the T. And that is the single most disheartening thing from the whole weekend.”

While I agree with the sentiment Ainge expresses--frankly, it means nothing coming from him--the dope-head who stumbled and bumbled most of his college FB time at UT high on multiple prescription and other drugs.... Hard to give your all for Tennessee when you're on drugs.

I certainly am glad that he is clean and has turned his life around--but he ought not be throwing stones when he spent most of his time at UT failing to give his ALL for the program. Flame away.......

Some of the people on this forum are downright awful. His past aside unless you ran through that T he has way more credence when he speaks about UT football than you'll ever be privy to.
