That we were outcoached in every facet.
He's right. I would like to see CJP take his head out of the defense's ass and be a HC . No way Jordon should've been on the field when we are backed up on our own goal line. Our coaches obviously need help having the right personnel on the field in the right situations.

There's no fire from this team. I wanna know why trey smith didn't start throwing down after the late hit on JG. I saw the same thing happen vs the Panthers last week and they had to be broken up.

How did Dan Mullen outcoach Jeremy Pruitt on that Austin Pope play? And I could go on...
And on the fumbled kick return. And on the JG interception. And on the JG fumble. And on the deep pass interception. And on the safety. And on and on and on. We weren't out coached. We turned the ball over 8 times. Most of those turnovers were self inflicted. The deep interception was the only one that wasn't.

I guess you think being ultra predictable is good for an OC with a shaky line....

With all due respect man, you can view my post history if you want, but I’m not going to rehash it all.

Here is the gist:

Loss due to bad play calling: see 2017 Florida game where something like 16 snaps in the red zone were passes despite having one of the hottest RB’s in the SEC, resulting in a total of 3 pts.

Loss not due to play calling: see 2018 Florida game where 5 turnovers that either resulted in points for Florida or killed decent scoring opportunities for us.

But then he's going to take more brutal hits. I realize we can't run block, but we can't pass block either. Much of the time they rushed 5 and we had 7 in to protect, and they still got pressure. More than once, I turned to my buddy sitting next to me and say "I have no idea what we're supposed to call here". Both were bad for much of the game.
Quick passes when they are expecting run. Keep them guessing.

Many of those things could be attributed to bad play calls or putting players in bad situations. You all criticize putting Jordan in against our goal line. Saying he bounces it out too much. Who put him in? Who chose the play to hand it to him 6 yards deep in the end zone with this line?

Who called the two run plays on first and second down to put us in a must pass situation leading to that interception?

I think I'll believe coach Mathews rather than a bunch of armchair coaches.

What about Will Overstreet? Apparently he talked this morning about how being so subpar on OL handcuffs your play calling. You can’t call QB rollout every snap for an entire half, much less for a full game.

This is the same guy that said our 2017 class was Butch’s best class ever, right?
Have always enjoyed Mathews' shows, but I've began to lose respect for his analysis. Things seem like they rarely unfold how he thinks they will. Said the freshman class a couple of years ago was "the best he's seen up there in a long time" or something of that sorts. Said Chandler might be the best back he's ever seen up there, a lot of stuff like that. He's wrong a lot.

Can't tell me Pruitt doesn't get the final say in all of the calls going through the headsets. He keeps his head up the defenses ass way too much. That's something he's gonna have to work on. Also preparing his team mentally for big games is another. We had 2 turnovers last week, then 6 on one night. Huge jump , something had these kids rattled @ home. That should never happen.

Honest question, on the 2nd turnover, did you know we were gonna run a screen? I did.

I’ve seen the screen called often by teams in that position, from the Patriots to the Pitt Panthers. And I’ve seen it go for successful yardage in that very situation. Just like there’s a good chance of a run play on 3rd and inches. Doesn’t change the fact that that particular turnover had less to do with play calling and more to do with good play by the defender.

But you can call passes on 1st down when they’re selling out to stop the run.

No but you don't run it up the middle for no gain on first and second down and put yourself in third and long every time and expect different results. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. What if we rolled the pocket once? Or maybe twice?
