Rosenstein invoked possibility of 25th Amendment

Treason, pure and simple.

Betraying the president is not treason against the US. This is the constitutional definition of treason:

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort.

And what? He's still calling for them to be declassified, and hinting that he'll do it himself if he has to, but is allowing the AG the opportunity to do it as long as he does it in a timely manner.

I've believed for some time that some of our "allies" will be shown in a very bad light in this whole thing. I actually posted as such Tuesday. It sounds like Trump will get his documents released but is somehow trying to do it while causing as little international incident as possible.

It's crazy, he makes a responsible move and he's "made a dramatic reversal". All is interpreted in the worst possible (and beyond) light.

FTR - what Rosenstein said

But let me be clear about this: Based on my personal dealings with the president, there is no basis to invoke the 25th Amendment.

Now a legitimate reason to fire Rosenstein........

If this article is completely true then the person who should be subject to the 25th is Rosenstein.

One minute - yes! I think firing Comey is exactly right - I'll even write a letter to explain why it's the right thing to do
Comey's fired - WTF! you used the letter I wrote to justify firing him?
Later - I miss Comey, sure wish I could talk to him

Only 1 of two things happening here.

1. Either really, really bad journalism
2. Someone is trolling the NYTs

Call me jaded but this smells like RR is being thrown to Trump as a deflection offering and bait. It could be Machiavellian as hell. Paint RR as a defiant individual attempting to ursurp/obstruct Trumps agenda. Trump is forced to either ignore the story which makes him side with RR whom he has publically fought with. Or accept the story as it basically fits his narrative and thus now he has to fire him. You can’t let him stay if you believe that story. And then Trump has fired RR which brings on the obstruction screams about Mueller’s witch hunt. This could be a chess play that’s thought out about five moves down.

Smells like a set up by the Trump administration. This is concocted and leaked by some Red Hats to the Times, and now Lord Red Hat has cause to fire RR.

Do you think the NYT is going to participate in a Trump scheme? They know the sources - either the sources have completely fooled the NYTs as to intent or it's coming from people they know are not trying to help Trump.

Is the failing New York Times a credible source again?

CNN is also reporting this. I'm skeptical.

So the same standard we’ve been complaining about on the op-ed and Woodward should apply here. RR has denied the allegations. Thus NYT needs to prove their accusation.

are the reporting on the NYT's reporting or independent corroboration?

I don't doubt the NYT was told this. Just don't know how much of it is true (factually or in tone). RR defenders are saying he was being sarcastic which is clearly a different story than what was presented.

If it is true factually and in tone then RR probably should be fired. The question is who wants Trump to fire RR?
