Kavanaugh Confirmation

I disagree, it works when the volunteer citizen (not politician) is incorruptible. Now, that is the hard part, as the vast majority are, it takes someone who can't be bought and has no desire or inclination to benefit monetarily from doing the job.

To help that along you have term limits and little pay and no benefits and no ability to become a lobbyist after their public duty. Add in large tax free sums of money fort turning in corrupt officials and the system will be as close to perfect as it was intended.
I think all that's great but you've got the prisoners running the prison. There is no way they pass legislation that negatively impacts themselves. It's too far gone IMO.

Agreed. It might be time to have the people vote on whether there needs to be term limits and what pay is fair from local to state to national elected officials.

I agree , an elected official ( politician ) should in my opinion be more of a duty to your country and almost dreaded like jury duty instead of being seen as a job for life with the ability to become multimillionaires from the position .

That's one of my biggest hangups with Trump's election rhetoric.
ANd that right there illustrates the difference between you and the Dimwits. You don't believe everything about the guy you helped elect (assuming you voted for him) is golden and that he is infallible. Whereas the Libs believed Obama (and whatever the next liberal they elect) will be the second coming...

Actually, I was thinking it was extremely low hanging fruit he could have proposed in his first 100 days that would have been (fairly) well received by the public, even by centrist Democrats. Of course, the liberal screech crowd would have been opposed because "Trump," but the polls on the matter don't lie. 70-75% of Americans want term limits on Congress. Far better chance of being positively received than dicking with health care. Good chance of being positively received more than tax cuts.

A simple fix in my opinion. Give the people what they want. Of course, Congress isn't going to vote themselves out of a job, but then it gets sent to the States to get voted on.

it also would have helped with some of Trump's deep state/old blood DC arguments. at least given him a move that was actually draining the swamp even if it gets shut down.

Agree. I was also thinking what a nice tactic it would be for him when they refused to vote on it or even hear it in committee. "See? Congress doesn't care about anyone but themselves. Vote those dirtbags out and put in true representatives of the people!" or some other such Trump podium rhetoric.

Win-win in my opinion for him.

Grassley has went above and beyond to try and make this happen, time to move on and hold the vote. Dems aren't and never were going to vote for him, screw them let's move on and get this qualified judge confirmed.

I'm betting he can keep it off Twitter unless the vote were to be pushed back, then all bets are off.

Few of his recent tweets have read like genuine Trump tweets (random capitalization, bad grammar, misspellings, misused exclamation points, etc). So I think KellyAnne has sequestered his phone this week.

Yep, too carefully crafted to be POTUS Actual.

Release the beast. Trump is attacking her credibility now.

If the SS can protect Trump from all the crazies they can protect this woman from the 12 people who would recognize her.
