Might be what the Dems are getting at. Delay as long as possible then use a bunch of spin in midterms about how R hate women. If they get Kavanaugh shot down it's a victory for them. If not, they get their buddies at CNN/MSNBC to distort what actually happened.

Wouldn't be surprised if some more mysterious last minute assault charges are suddenly made against R candidates in close vote states.

Just as an FYI. The background check for a SCOTUS nominee is not the same as that for obtaining security clearance (something not required for SCOTUS). Kavanaugh has gone through both types of background check including much more thorough scrutiny than any SCOTUS who never had Top Secret or the next higher level security clearance.

There's an interesting story about a guy in Oregon who was just exonerated after serving 18 months of a 50 year sentence for sexual abuse of a minor. They found out that the accuser had lied. How? She told a story about how to keep her quiet he threatened to kill her pets and actually killed her dog Lucy right in front of her. Problem with the story is that Lucy is still alive. An innocence project group helped track down Lucy who is alive and well. This combined with other inconsistencies in the story led the DA to set the man free and drop all the charges.

One small but critical story in the "always believe the woman" narrative.

So Ford has until 10AM Friday morning to reply to Grassley directly with their intent to interview on Monday or not.

Jesus F Christ, can't he open his mouth without deflecting and lying? He hasn't asked the FBI about investigating this. Please. Nobody in their right mind thinks he asked their opinion on whether they "want" to investigate it.

He ought to just tell the truth: "I don't see a reason at this point to delay things with an FBI investigation. The Senate is to hold a hearing on it next week and that is I believe sufficient to consider the matter."

But no, he can't just say that, can her? He has to fabricate a claim that he talked to them and the FBI doesn't want to do an investigation. God, it is so infuriating how much he constantly lies to try to make himself look good !!!!!!

It’s not their thing. They don’t have jurisdiction. Sure, trump could order an investigation. But, this is a classic he said she said. It’s 35 years old. No alleged witnessss as far as I’ve heard.

A local talk show host here in Nashville said this morning that he wouldn't be surprised if she went and filed a police report tomorrow afternoon so then the dems could say "this nominee is under investigation"
