Kavanaugh Confirmation

You should be happy. The GOP can now show it's doing the right thing while the democrats aren't. Moral high ground. What the GOP has always professed to occupy. Job well done.

In all honesty, he's gone from the national stage in November (which would be the remedy anyway, and the issue remains under investigation (State and National Democrats say Ellison Investigation Remains Ongoing)) and the people of MN can decide whether they want him as their new AG. Hardly on equal footing with Kavanaugh, who's looking at a lifetime appointment.

The simple fact he's still on the ballot is what's at stake here. And the last time I looked, he's still deputy chair of the DNC.

I do appreciate the mental gymnastics you attempted to perform while justifying your response.

I wish he would go away. I have no doubt she's telling the truth. She's credible and I believe her story. Now, your turn.

I don't wish he would go away. I wish he would take as serious a public beating like Kavanaugh is taking from the liberals. I have no doubt Ellison's attacker is telling the truth. She's credible, has medical records to back up her claims, happened in the last couple of years and I believe her story.

That was easy. Happy?

The hypocrisy and silence from the same same senators that are screaming for K’s Head is deafening . Where’s Dianna, Crying Chuck , Booker , Dick Durbin and Pelosi ? .... Crickets

I figure you're going to get all mopey and fuss if I don't respond seriously (not that my previous post wasn't serious either) to your comments here.

No, I don't wish Kavanaugh would go away. It's a pretty serious allegation that should be looked into.

As for the "truth" of the matter, that's going to end up being, as we've all said, a he said/she said situation. It's going to be extremely hard to substantiate after 35 years have passed. Regardless of the outcome, it is a situation that should be looked into by the Senate. If the allegations are found to be corroborated (again, hard to do) then yes, it should disqualify him from his SCOTUS nomination. I'd dare say it disqualifies him from serving in his current position as well. So, he "retires" and gets picked up by some three name lawyer agency while making six figures ripping other lawyers up in court.

As I've said previously, I think the allegations need to be addressed. However, I still cannot support how they came about. When even the most liberal press is saying "yeah, that was shady as ****" over the way DiFi brought it up, then yes, you're on the wrong side if you say otherwise. Not that you have, but there are a couple of morons on here thinking that. Grassley and McConnell were both correct in saying what they said. She was pulling a political stunt trying to appease a voting base and get reelected in November. Sorry, but there it is. Plenty of closed door sessions it could have, should have been brought forward in.

That's my issue with the whole thing.

I disagree with you, I don't think they need to be addressed.

If there were other allegations from other women demonstrating a pattern, then yes they should delay the confirmation and look into them. But since we only have this one 11th hour sketchy recollection it should be ignored and even shouted down as the stunt it is. This type of ******** needs to be stopped and not encouraged.

I'll disagree. I think anyone going to the SCOTUS needs to be as thoroughly vetted as possible. Yes, it was an 11th hour political stunt. Yes, it was to delay the inevitable. Yes, DiFi sunk herself lower than ever before.

Let me ask you this, had the allegation come up as soon as he was nominated as DiFi should have done when she received the letter, would your opinion change?

Possibly, would depend on how credible the allegation was. This one wouldn't change my opinion.

The timing is most suspect. The allegations, maybe not. Again, had it been brought up in the beginning like it should have or even when he was nominated to the Circuit Court, I think people would have a slightly different opinion.

So Dems can't fall back on the FBI thing and now the accuser isn't cooperating (including refusing to participate in the conf call yesterday afternoon). Obvious what they are up to. Will they be called on it?
It's all over the place at this point. Now DiFI wants 12 witnesses interviewed and Collins wants the lawyers to question each others client, who knows.
