Debuts of HC’s We Wanted & Didn’t Get

I wanted us to back a Wells Fargo truck up to Gary Patterson's house and make him tell us no. I wanted us to pursue him the way Bama did Saban. Saban said no until he said yes.

I was really high on Frost but it was obvious he wanted to go home. It shocked me more Gator fans didn't see that.

I was okay with Chip but I don't ever seeing him having the same success he did at Oregon. Defenses has caught up to his style of offense the same way they did Spurriers Fun n Gun.

I never had an opinion on Taggert one way or the other.

I will say I really wanted L;each. He's a fun guy and an offensive guru and I really believe he could have been successful here.

Scott Frost/Nebraska: 0-2 with losses to Colorado 33-28 & Troy 24-19.

Chip Kelly/UCLA (my pick cuz of current roster type): 0-3 with losses to Cincinnati 26-17, Oklahoma 49-21, & Fresno State 38-14.

Willie Taggart/FSU: 1-2 with a win against Samford (not Stanford) 36-26 then losses to VaTech 24-3 & Syracuse 30-7.

Just a reminder that super hires like Frost & Kelly are not guaranteed instant W’s.

It's obvious that UCLA and FSU are full of soft players with a losing culture, Jim Mora and Jimbo Fisher are no more than used car salesmen who recruited no talent.

All that being said I was happy we got Pruitt. He was Fulmer's first choice and he knows what it takes to win in the SEC. You don't have top defensive at three different blue blood programs without knowing what your doing.

Gary Patterson would have been a fantastic hire.

Leach would have been great too if he decided to bring in a good DC.

Chip kelly, I still believe, would have been great here.

Frost was meh.

I really wanted Currie to throw the bank at Petersen. He’s got Washington playing great football.

I’d have preferred Les Miles. I think it was Fulmer, for whatever reason, who didn’t want that to happen. Just a hunch.
I honestly belive Pruitt was going to be Fulmer's hire the moment he became AD. I know he interviewed others but the job was Pruitt's from the beginning imo

I think it’s telling that Fulmer is an offensive coach at heart, but he went and got a defensive coach minded coach to take over, first choice. Period.

Yeah I would have been thrilled with Peterson.

You can add Gruden to the 0 and 2 start, and I'd put Mullen on there too, losing to Kentucky for the first time since the Reagan administration

LMAO @ Taggert.

Lethal simplicity indeed.

Fans down there have already started GoFundMe pages to buy out his contract.

I think Kelly and Frost can get it together.

Taggart always had too many shades of Butch with the self promotion for me.

I'm trying to; even with him, we'd be 2-1.

You seem to be arguing a point, that no one has stated. OP was slamming Frost to losing to Troy with a walk-on QB.

Wait, unless you are saying that we'd still be 2-1 if one if we replaced ETSU or UTEP with Troy, and trotted out Jancek as our QB?

Seldom does a new coach walk into a program where the previous coach was fired or forced out and not have down years early on. Even if you have a coach that has a magical first year there are still bound to be a couple of down years. With that said I do think Pruitt, Kelly, Frost, and Taggart will all do okay with some time.

Petersen is not leaving UW anytime soon. He has practically infinite job security there.

I would have been fine with Frost, but it was clear to all that if the Nebraska job was offered to him, he would take it. Can't blame him for that, and his departure from UCF was first-class (stayed for the bowl game).

Frost faces a rebuilding job on par with, if not bigger than, the one at UT. Doesn't he have a walk-on starting at QB?

Come back in 2 or 3 years and see where Frost has that Nebraska team.

Go Vols.
Think I saw that Martinez kid (used to be a Vol commit) was the starter - then he got injured.

I wanted Tee Martin if they were willing to take a chance on an assistant but Pruitt is ok with me. But since i knew they were going to go cheap i was wanting to at least give a shot to Mike Houston. What he has done at James Madison he can build something. Sooner or later when he gets his shot he will make a very good hire.
I didn't want Tee...Not ready and still not ready...Houston I wanted and thought he could build it up here...Someone is going to give him a chance and he is going to do great things in the furure.
