I believe this is why I was so upset. I expected a decently coached/disciplined team. We weren’t close to that

Dude you really are showing some real holes in your football knowledge.

Ignorant to mention discipline as a problem for Saturday. ZERO TOs which is the best indicator for discipline and less than 50yards in penalties which is another thing to look at.

We get it you think this team, players, coaches and staff are awful. Save us the time and leave it at that because the more you post the more it's clear you have no clue wtf you are talking about

Agreed, trying to tell people to chill on the Florida game is challenging
Really trying to just get in the mindset of simply wanting to see improvement throughout the season. Definitely going to be a process. Don't see us beating us beating Florida, but I'll still feel like taking a swing at somebody if we lose lol.

Trust your eyes regardless of the competition played in the first week. Our guys were bottom third regardless of the competition.

Our O looked like it could compete mid-level in the SEC with work on the O-line and Helton improving his play calling IMO. They get two weeks to work out the issues. There is enough talent to do it, they just need to get to work on it.

Our D looked amateurish. A bunch of Jumper's and Abernathy's running around with the exception of a few guys. I hope they get the most talented guys on the field the next two games so they can gel as a unit somewhat. Quit wasting time on experienced wannabes. Find two coverages they can use competently with the young talent in the secondary. Time to sit Kongbo more and play other guys to develop a legit pass rush. He's fools gold. Then find at least two tough, mauling hogs to go with Shy for the D-line. Otherwise it will be excuse time against UF - again.

Totally agree- we can't keep the same folks in there if they don't produce on D... Pruitt said he was putting the best kids out there, so I want to see that actually happen. I understand it was the first game and it was smart to be conservative and play it safe with kids who've played before, but we now have three weeks to improve and we need the best talent out there regardless of who they are... Until Kongbo actually does something, I would let someone else have a shot. I must admit I am a little shocked at Taylor, thought he would make more of an impact. Hopefully he finds his way soon.
VT game was a great example of good, not great players recruited out of high school, but a great coach who has developed their skills and worked his defense around their strengths.

That’s your opinion, and honestly I don’t care for it either, lol. Don’t get upset at me for disagreeing with you, use your big brain, and control your emotions.

I honestly don’t believe I could put Warrior back on the field after seeing his play last Saturday. His effort was pathetic. Abernathy just looks lost, takes horrible angles, and can’t tackle. The older dudes are a mess. Alontae and Flowers at least tried hard
You've b****ed and moaned now for 96 hours straight. When Bruin starts to tell you to pipe down, that's when you know you've gone WAAAAY too far.

That’s where I’m at. I’ve decided to take off the orange colored glasses and take a realistic look at this team.

I’m not bitching at all, I’m telling you my thoughts. It’s just upsetting for some because it’s not all positive.

If we don’t score at least 45 on ETSU I’ll be concerned. Same if we allow them to score more than 10.

I wasn't speaking about his entire time here, just last season, thought that was implied... yes, in the early years he was coaching, we definitely had some fight. I was speaking about last season when everything fell apart.

I don't think you ever specifically said last season. Difficult to imply things on a message board.

I think Pruitt and his staff is awesome btw, it’s just gonna take time man

I’ve thought this same thing. I just came to the conclusion that if we trust Pruitt Knows how to coach defense we just have to be patient until players either learn to produce in the system or we recruit players that will. The quicker we get his system installed the quicker the turn around. I cant expect him to change it up becuse we have bad players. Winning an extra game this year vs. building a dominant force down the road is just the short term thinking that got us in this mess.

The offense will be pretty solid once the OL gels. We have to remember that Trey had 8 practices between the last game of 2017 and the WVU game. Hall has had very few practices and is knocking rust off. Kennedy didn't get any spring practice and had to be held out of some fall practices. There were other OLs as well who missed some spring and/or some of fall as well. As Pruitt noted, because of that, those few OL who were available had to be used at multiple positions during practice, so it was difficult to develop continuity and familiarity. He said he likes his OL and believes they will be a cohesive unit by mid-October. And I like our skill players on offense, so if they do get a cohesive OL in front of them, the O can be pretty good as the season develops.

The D is another issue though. Just not much there among the veterans. Staff going to have to rely on the youngsters quite a bit.

I don’t think we were a poorly coached team at alll last week.

I think the coaches expected better execution based on practice and didn’t think some guys would revert back.

They will learn.

I think game management was really well done.

I liked the play calling except for the two runs to London at the end of the second quarter.

Penalties were down. Zero turnovers.

I would grade the coaches higher than the players on this one.

My only complaint from a coaching perspective is about helton’s playcalling. We were throwing with ease on them and he kept trying to run the ball in really inconvenient situations. I think the defense would have looked a little better if we didn’t keep giving them the ball back

Wow espnu guys (first team} actually said Tennessee looked a lot better than FSU in their debuts

I liked that they said TN kept fighting even when the game was out of reach. The team last year, "basically the same roster", would have laid down after the 2 initial scores by WV.
Said they had totally checked out by the Georgia game last year.
Was surprised to hear them say the game was actually much closer than the score indicated.

Let me rephrase my earlier comment. We made a bunch of errors last week in assignments. It’s obviously a sign during any transitional period. We are running a new O and D, it’s not unusual for there to be so many busts. I just figured we would be able to play a complete competitive game against WVU. I was wrong
