I hope we see the young guys play ALOT the next two games, not the stupid 28-0 type of game and keeping starters in until the final couple drives like we saw under CBJ multiple times

The problem before was that we could never put the game away under Butch. They were always 4 quarter games.

Indiana St. UMass. Etc.

Hopefully we can be well ahead in the first half and work on things.

I love my ETSU Bucs and I love my Vols. For as long as I've been alive, I've attended both teams' home games every year. In 1999, I went to UT for a week, and then transferred back to ETSU. This game will be an incredible experience for me and many of my friends who grew up huge UT fans, but completed our degrees at the hometown school. I'll be there this weekend with both Orange and Blue/Gold on and I'll be cheering for both teams to not have any injuries. The Vols will win by a lot, and honestly I prefer that, based on what an ETSU win would mean to UT on a national level. But this weekend is going to be special for a lot of East Tennesseans and I can't wait. GBO and Go Bucs!

Someone that I talked to is pretty confident that we will get Wright unsure about crouch and looks like UF is in drivers seat for hill so does anyone know how many sports we have left

Would love to be a fly on the wall at coaches staff meeting this week.
Love to hear what they really think of our level of talent.
We have a lot of people on this staff that have coached elite talent.
Love to hear their thoughts on our roster.

We’re not elite. We don’t look the same as LSU, Georgia, or bama. Especially among the lines. We’re getting there and That doesn’t mean we can’t play with them or even win but night in night out we’re not there.

We are however right there with every other middle of the pack team in P5 conferences.

Didn't recruit Peterman or Croom to Tennessee. That was Dooley. He hit on a few, but not very many. He was overrated as a recruiter.
Yes, you are right about Peterman and Croom, (His mom, I believe, was a big fan of Dooley) but there are others I didn't name, (Barnett, Shy, Trey etc) so I disagree that he didn't recruit well-- it was more that he misused or neglected them.

I thought hill already committed (silent) to us. That is why we git shirt bush (4* from la). Bush did say he reopened his recruitment, even though he never publically committed.

So you do or do not want to see Randy Sanders naked......? Sounds like you're still undecided.

We recruited fine (not amazing but fine) under butch. Put a lot of players in the nfl. We should’ve won 10 games two years here and it would’ve elevated recruiting even more. We didn’t and that’s that.

I know we don’t have elite talent.
We only had one player out of 66 on the pre season three All SEC teams.
Just like to know what talent they think we do have.
Also like to know how confident they are in recruiting elite talent.

We already have fields and burrell plus taylor and thompson. Have u seen our DL and LB. We need to use that scholarhip there since spots are thin.

I agree that he hit on some, he definitely had no idea what to do with them once they got on campus. I actually have a connection with Peterman. He's a really good guy.

I kind-of get what everyone is saying about scheduling cupcakes. But this game was announced in July, 2014. No one had any problems with non-cupcake games against NC State, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech. I would rather have a home game than a neutral-site game, but to act like we shouldn't have scheduled this game is a little silly...no one knew in July 2014 what Tennessee or West Virginia would look like four years later.

True but if the AD knew our luck the past few yrs they wouldn't know that whoever we schedule that is a solid program will have their best roster ever that yr lol

I think it’s time to shut the doors and close the football program. We have a FCS roster, an inexperienced HC who lost his 1st game, so he should be fired, and a fan base imploding on itself. Let’s be like Coleman and just quit.
Burn Neyland to the ground!

Btw, I don’t usually do this, but @HoleInTheRoof, your comment to @JacketVol was out of line and uncalled for. He has been a very respected poster on this board for a long time. He wasn’t tooting his own horn, but giving the heads up that there is more quitting to come. You should consider apologizing, as many of us would like to keep JacketVol around here.
I agree with this but I also think JacketVol overreacted a wee bit. I’ve never thought of hitr as being an instigator like some are.

With the benefit of retrospect, we can see that a lot of Butch's recruiting was fool's gold...and that at least some portion of the recruiting "buzz" that was generated was from a class or two with an inordinate number of legacy players that otherwise probably wouldn't have chosen Tennessee.

While we will still have to see how things pan out with the current staff's recruiting efforts, they won't have the benefit of a huge legacy class. To me that will help us know sooner (and with more confidence) just how well they are able to recruit in the face of what seems destined to be a very unremarkable season. (Yes, I would consider 6-6 unremarkable, but not unexpected)
