This could be the case if we had a large senior class. As it is, if we want to bring in 22-25 new players next fall, we need about a dozen non-seniors to leave the team either by draft, transfer, or quitting. Due to almost zero attrition so far, we will be in a numbers crunch come next July otherwise.

Yeah, I'm not really as concerned right now, but I could see it becoming a problem in the future. The 25 per year rule seems like it could become a problem. Think about a team like Bama that has so much attrition each year. It'll catch up with them. Just seems like a rule that wasn't very well thought out. The 85 rule makes sense, but there could potentially be some years that schools won't be able to fill the 85 scholarships because they can't take over 25 per year. Unless they give walk ons scholarships. Just doesn't really make sense to me.

WV is probably better than I wanted to give them credit for.

We are not anywhere close to where I was hoping we were. I think I also severely underestimated the damage that was done to our players psyches over the past years. The team needs time and I am willing to give it to them.

Pruitt is doing the right things going into a cupcake week. Pound fundamentals into the players with ever opportunity. We tackled poorly, appeared to communicate poorly, and often looked out of position in the WVU game. Basics, basics, basics for the next two weeks and then turn things up for the UF game. This season was always going to be 6-6 type year and we are still capable of getting there.

I call BS on Simmons quotes. Scouts are at UT practices frequently.

Yea that’s just total Bs. Titans, Jags, bengals practically live at our practices. We are no an A team. But no way shape or form are we behind mtsu. We’ve had double digit players make 53 man rosters the last two years.

Man people are really drinking the Pruitt koolaid after we just got embarrassed by WVU?

Embarrassed? Yes, because that's where this program is right now, as much as many fans don't seem to want to believe it. I was at the game on Saturday, and I can't tell you how many fans thought that a 4-8 team was going to roll over an experienced team with a great offense.

Rational fans take note that this is a competent and experienced staff, and better days are ahead. So yes, we are drinking the Pruitt koolaid. However, it's not going to be fixed this season or next.

I need that gif of Butch against Georgia where he tells the ref. That’s ********. That’s ******** right there. Cause that’s what your post is. ********. Those kids did not quit. Kongbo and d Taylor and a few others may have but plenty of those kids especially the freshman were busting their tails and the O looked better and WV is way better than Vandy. I ain’t happy but this team will beat Florida and will get to a bowl this year.
Better late than never, I guess...

I liked Butch Jones back then. My sentiments towards him now are unspeakable.

So, is Barton telling us that there are more talented upper classmen at MTSU than Callaway, Wood-Anderson, Tuttle, Bituli, and Taylor? Yep, BS.

I can see a scout saying that we have less talent now than we have had. But, to compare it to MTSU, who he says he can invest more time in? Give me a break.

We have not had a lot of guys transfer but we will. CJP is leaning on those he has recruited here and those he recruited and got to know at Alabama. Coaches tend to do that. He likes JT a lot. He won’t start this year but they think he has a future. If JG doesn’t play this year, he will transfer. It will be boom or bust for him as far as UT goes. I think a certain WR who I felt Butch should’ve started on D will be gone as well.

Coaches are working from 7 am till 11:30 at night so dedication is there. CJP is not really involved in the O. Helton is running that show. CJP is heavily involved in the D.

CJP is coaching and absolutely doesn’t care about being anyone’s buddy. I think he will rub a lot of people and is rubbing people the wrong way.

On the other hand, I think we have a good football coach who has a drive for excellence. He has to win and that is and should be his focus. I think he will but he’s never going to be personal like CPF. Just win and it will be alright

Told y’all it was coming. He won’t be the last. This is actually good news.

Well thank goodness you told us. No one else foresaw kids transferring out of the program. You are a beacon of wisdom shining upon each of us. For that, we are grateful.

Guys like you are why OV and others don’t post anymore. LA vol, you can keep posting for these guys if you wish. I shared info and get this. This RF has become the FF. Good luck. Don’t have time for this crap.

Why wouldn't you leave during the summer? Why leave now?

I think these kids have dreams. Some of them may not fit here in some way any more. It's not like a bad thing that Kamara left Bama went JUCO came here for 2 years and ended up as a rookie of the year in the NFL or that someone like Peterman could leave here and go somewhere else and end up as a starting QB in the NFL. The odds are stacked against them from day one for all kinds of reasons, here and everywhere. Coaches often try to hold on to bodies as long as possible for depth but once you realize in fact you're the 5th guy at RB with the new staff I could understand relooking at your options. I think as long as it is handled correctly I don't have a problem with it. I wish the kid well and hope to see him in the NFL someday.

I think Pruitt mentioned Trey by name at SEC media days. So in answer to your question he might not have been aware of or fully accepted where he actually stood with the new staff. I'm not sure these guys would have recruited any of our pre-2018 RBs. I don't know. Anyway, I guess we know why Fant was moved back to RB this week.

WTF is up with our recruiting evals? Are we going after kids who have fake offers from other schools and legit 4*s want absolutely nothing to do with us?

Or did Butch and his staff just coach all of the talent and instincts out of the guys they recruited?
