How many good players have we lost in these transitions? Can’t think of any.

Not sure. To be clear I am fine with losers like Coleman leaving.
Any kid doing a video like that is a loser.

But let's also be clear. There are a large number of good character and good players on this roster that don't need to be lumped into a group wanting "most"
Of them purged. That's dumb as hell

I just went through the roster and counted about 20 players (no freshman) who probably will never see the field other than possibly special teams. We will probably have a mass exodus of Trumpet and Life coaches players after this season now that these players know they wont see the field.

I'm extremely disappointed with the RF right now. Sound like a bunch and crying kids who were told no for the first time. When bruin is the sound of reason and the FF is more positive than the RF then something is wrong and many of you need to take a good hard look at your fandom right now. Pathetic

I certainly don't want to start a numbers debate, but I do have 1 question about the new rules. If I recall correctly teams are no longer about to give more than 25 scholarships per season regardless of total scholarships? Is that correct? I know 85 is still the rule for total. If that's the case, then couldn't that have the possibility of having an undermanned team if a large senior class graduates, several juniors are taken in the draft, players quit the team, etc? If it's not the case then disregard. I could just see that snowballing and having a negative effect.

Dear Lord we said the exact same thing about Dooleys players.

How about we just say to let the bad apples get the F out and we keep the good ones instead of paiting an extremely broad brush???
I may have sounded a bit harsh, but I'm just so sick and tired of losing to teams because we don't have enough true SEC talent to win games.

I'd also like to know. It sounds like we could possibly have a bunch of walk ons getting scholarships next year if we have lots of transfers just to reach that 85 number. If I'm understanding correctly

Who cares man. It's funny because in the podcast Austin said our RBs that year shouldve been Chandler, Jordan and Hayden.

I will still be interested to see what Hayden does at Arkansas. I think he is only a change of pace back who will get a handful of carries. He only got 4 carries against Eastern Illinois. I do believe he was probably better suited for the slot.

That’s fair. I wasn’t disagreeing with you and haven’t seen the video. Just couldn’t think of anybody leaving the program lately during one of these transitions and going on to be successful elsewhere.

My thought is anybody who wants to leave now is probably fine to go ahead and go.

The dynamic of what is going on and what has happened in this program for the last 12 years totally escapes me. Butch leaves and a lot of players and Media came out and said he was a bad person. Now some people are mad at Pruitt. I guess it’s always like this and social media has just made it more apparent.

Coleman, the guy Butch took over Hayden.
You have some players that want to be here, you have some players that think they want to be here and some players that should not be here. Take it or leave it is all I can say for some of them and good luck on their future endeavors.

5. Respect the players Fans often get upset with players for their performance on the field or other issues that may affect their contributions. It's certainly allowable to criticize players for their play, but personal attacks, name calling, etc. of Tennessee players is frowned upon.

Best of luck to him at whatever JUCO he ends up at, but adversity shows one’s character and when things got tough he left. That doesn’t usually bode well for an athlete’s future.

So ive kinda avoided this place since the game, im not mad at the team or Pruitt, i was just really really wrong with my expectations of what WV was and where we are in our rebuild. I dont think we would have wont the game if this happened but one thing i really would have liked to see was Chandler getting to go in as a change of pace while Jordan was pounding them and wearing them down. Unfortunate time for an injury for him because i think he could have gotten loose on a couple big runs if they had been able to mix him in towards the end of the 2nd and beginning of the 3rd while the WV D was struggling. .

Man people are really drinking the Pruitt koolaid after we just got embarrassed by WVU? I'm open ears on the situation but it's not a good look week 1...

The players leaving that is. I'm ignoring WVU for now.

This could be the case if we had a large senior class. As it is, if we want to bring in 22-25 new players next fall, we need about a dozen non-seniors to leave the team either by draft, transfer, or quitting. Due to almost zero attrition so far, we will be in a numbers crunch come next July otherwise.

Barton Simmons on UT:

"Was talking to an NFL scout this weekend who has Tennessee as a region. He was telling me that in the NFL, they categorize programs as "A schools" "B schools" and "C schools"

An A school is a program that has potential first or second rounders that is a must-hit and worth investing a lot of time and planning a trip around. B school has possible late round guys or guys that are worth seeing a practice or at least a walk-through and getting a firm eval on. A C school is a school with limited draftable prospects that is often just a stop to watch film if time allows. practice/in-person eval may not even be a priority or worth the time.

For context, this team currently views MTSU as a "B school". It views Tennessee as a "C school"

I don't say that as taking some shot at Tennessee. It's more of a statement on where the program is - or at least where it is viewed externally - from a talent perspective. So with that context, this season may be one that calls for some patience. I thought that was interesting given that a lot of us (me included) are still programmed to think about Tennessee as having a lot of talented players on their roster. Without the subconscious recruiting rankings bias baked in, NFL guys don't consider the roster of upperclassmen worth much time investment.

Keep in mind, NFL scouts really only care about seniors and in some cases obvious draft-eligible underclassmen. A guy like Trey Smith, for example, is of no interest to NFL scouts because they have all of next year to get a handle on him.”
