I wonder how pathetic my life would have to get for me to visit a uf message board.....The cupcake argument is more than legit. It's the first thing anyone would point out.
Having said that, it's amazing how many people now claim that West Virginia is way better than Tennessee, Tennessee was overmatched, Will Grier is awesome, etc.
A few days ago, Tennessee was more talented than some mid tier Big 12 team

Sounds reasonable but I don't see how you can say this, yet put LSU and Auburn in the same "overmatched" category.I said we would lose by at least 20. (All the 4-0 start predictions are what brought about the "bet")
We are not ready to compete at an "average" SEC level yet. I think Coach P could be the man to get us there, but it is 2/3 years away.

They were top 25 teams playing top 25 teams. Never understood the Miami and LSU rankings and the game proved why. What were we, 59th or something?
Ed was right in his statement. We were the only truly overmatched SEC team on opening weekend. And I really can't figure out why that seemed to bother you.
Fans spreading hyperbole for their team, on their forum, shocking. The cupcake argument is more than legit. It's the first thing anyone would point out.

Yea, its easy to point that kind of stuff out almost daily. Thing is, I'm not sure its always the same ones contradicting themselves.
For several weeks I saw posters saying we wouldn't beat WV because we were less talented and overmatched. Are the same posters today saying the opposite?
I am going by rankings, by the rankings both LSU and AU were "over matched" the same as us. We "matched" up with WV at every position except QB. I guess one position makes us "over matched".
Sorry, Excuses bother me.
Meh.
Auburn and Washington were #6 and #9. Three spots apart. That's a peer-to-peer game, neither side was "overmatched."
You absolutely could say that LSU was overmatched. #8 vs #25 is a pretty good spread. So there's one for you.
On the other hand, we were in a game of #17 vs #65 (using ESPN FPI since AP doesn't go that low). 48 spots is quite a bit more than 17 spots.
It's a qualitative difference.
If you're going by rankings as you say, only two SEC teams were "over-matched" this week, and one a heck of a lot more drastically than the other.
[Having said that, I for one believed that we matched up with the Mountaineers better than it turned out. I figured we really belonged in the 40-60 range. Maybe we do and maybe we don't, but we were definitely out-matched]
