Sorry, but this is funny if you don’t take yourself too seriously

The cupcake argument is more than legit. It's the first thing anyone would point out.

Having said that, it's amazing how many people now claim that West Virginia is way better than Tennessee, Tennessee was overmatched, Will Grier is awesome, etc.

A few days ago, Tennessee was more talented than some mid tier Big 12 team
I wonder how pathetic my life would have to get for me to visit a uf message board.....

Tennessee didn't play WV they played Brady and the Patriots.

You have a bet that we don't win more than 5 games. Why do you think we only win 5?

Oh, I don't know............the fact that out OL, DL and BDs are not even top 10 FBS caliber yet.
(The bet is that we do not win 7. But, you are correct, I do not think we win more than 5.)

What was your prediction of the WV game?

I said we would lose by at least 20. (All the 4-0 start predictions are what brought about the "bet")

We are not ready to compete at an "average" SEC level yet. I think Coach P could be the man to get us there, but it is 2/3 years away.

It would be funny if I rooted for a different team.

We are an easy target to be made fun of right now.

Funniest thing is, there are only two fan bases who are in a position to laugh at this (and it is funny) without feeling a little guilty: LSU and Auburn.

For the rest, there's the nagging recognition that their team didn't actually didn't face anyone worth crowing over.

I'm sure most of them laughed anyway. It is funny. But they got that twinge of guilt while chuckling. ;)

Sounds reasonable but I don't see how you can say this, yet put LSU and Auburn in the same "overmatched" category.
They were top 25 teams playing top 25 teams. Never understood the Miami and LSU rankings and the game proved why. What were we, 59th or something?

Ed was right in his statement. We were the only truly overmatched SEC team on opening weekend. And I really can't figure out why that seemed to bother you.

Yea, its easy to point that kind of stuff out almost daily. Thing is, I'm not sure its always the same ones contradicting themselves.

For several weeks I saw posters saying we wouldn't beat WV because we were less talented and overmatched. Are the same posters today saying the opposite?

I am going by rankings, by the rankings both LSU and AU were "over matched" the same as us. We "matched" up with WV at every position except QB. I guess one position makes us "over matched".

Sorry, Excuses bother me.

Fans spreading hyperbole for their team, on their forum, shocking.

I bet there's a bunch of UF fans that over-hype their team but then make excuses when they lose. Maybe we should go over and call them out when it happens.

Oh wait, forgot.. I'm not a trolling **** that hangs out on rival websites.😂

While humorous...... I'm as down on the Vols program as I ever have been..... after listening to sports talk today..... I'm hoping the Vols regroup, improve and bludgeon of few teams in the process.... screw the media discussing whether the Vols can get one conference win

If you're going by rankings, wouldn't that make our matchup way different?

Meh.

Auburn and Washington were #6 and #9. Three spots apart. That's a peer-to-peer game, neither side was "overmatched."

You absolutely could say that LSU was overmatched. #8 vs #25 is a pretty good spread. So there's one for you.

On the other hand, we were in a game of #17 vs #65 (using ESPN FPI since AP doesn't go that low). 48 spots is quite a bit more than 17 spots.

It's a qualitative difference.

If you're going by rankings as you say, only two SEC teams were "over-matched" this week, and one a heck of a lot more drastically than the other.

[Having said that, I for one believed that we matched up with the Mountaineers better than it turned out. I figured we really belonged in the 40-60 range. Maybe we do and maybe we don't, but we were definitely out-matched]

So, because there were a few more digits between WV's rank and our, we were the "only" over matched team.......gotcha!
Like Fade said, this is a funny post if you can not take things so seriously. Obviously some can not.
