I think we need 3 top 10 classes in a row to have a shot at Bama or Georgia.

More like top 5 IMO. UGA was pulling in top 10 with Richt but now they've bumped it up to top 3 and are in the NC hunt.

Top 10 is doable but we need to get lucky and have a year with multiple All-American caliber athletes or a total stud QB.

We need to worry about beating SC, Vandy, KY, Mizzou before we worry about the GAs and Bamas of the world. A reasonable progression would be dominating those teams by 2020. Then maybe being a threat to GA for the east a couple years after that. I don't think it happens quicker than that.

Offensively.

Jordan was great but still left a lot of yards on the field. Missed the cutback lane on several opportunities when he ran right into the defenders. He should improve that with more play. Runs really hard. Adding Chandler as a change of pace guy should be a nice combo.

JG was better but still made some young guy mistakes. Messed up a few protection packages that caused him to get blasted. When he had time he looked confident and got the ball in there. Still didn’t move around the pocket great but it looked better than last year. Definitely room for improvement.

WRs were studs. Only small issue was they could block better but other than that a very impressive showing.

TEs outside of Eli can’t block worth a crap. Got embarrassed. We were almost nonexistent here.

Now the OL. First 2 drives were rough. Looked to be more miscommunication that anything. Guys got beat but the G/C “meet point” was awful and killed the first couple drives. When everyone got on the same page we actually looked pretty good. Kept JG clean (if he maneuvered the pocket better it would look ever better) and got a little push in the run game. Long story short, once we get the kinks out I think we’re gonna be ok up front. Jahmir is really athletic and has a nasty streak.

Play calling left a little to be desired. Felt a couple times we tried to force things instead of taking what the defense gave us. That 3rd and 4 call was even worse on replay. Have to do a better job on the play calling and putting our guys in position to succeed imo. Chandler going out early didn’t do us any favors.

There’s some optimism to be had on that side of the ball. Just some thoughts from a Moran
I think this is all spot on.

Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see us getting a top 5 class anytime soon. Geographically it's tough especially when you have Georgia and Bama firing on all cylinders taking the best of the best from their back yard.

His problem is he should have been playing day 1 his freshman yr getting toasted like flowers did yesterday so he had film and experience to learn from. Instead he didn't play until last yr when he should have played his freshman yr learning through his mistakes.

Pruitt has been through this before at UGA. He started I believe 3 true freshman in that secondary. They had their bruises early but got better and better and that group was key to UGA run last yr. Pruitt is going to play the talent and deal with consequences today if it helps him win in yr 2-3

His pass defense at GA was ranked 2nd best in the conference in 2014 in yardage and 2nd best in QB rating. They gave up 13 TDs and gained 16 interceptions. In 2015 his pass defense was #1 in both yardage and QB rating. They gave up 11 passing TDs and intercepted 12 passes. In 2014 they gave up multiple passing TDs in 3 games, South Carolina, Arkansas, and Tennessee. All 3 teams had 3 passing TDs against him but he got 1 pick against Carolina and 2 against Arkansas, none against Tennessee. In 2015 only one team had 3 passing TDs against him, Tennessee. He did get 1 pick from us in 2015. A couple teams, La Monroe & Penn State had 2 aerial TDs to go along with 1 pick each.

His head coach got fired and he left for Alabama. Georgia dropped a notch with his departure but was still good. My point is he had immediate results, taking them from 9th in yards and 11th in QB rating to 2nd best in conference for both in year zero. The year before his arrival GA gave up 18 passing TDs and gained 7 interceptions. Last year, they gave up 19 TDs with 12 interceptions, giving up 3 or more passing TDs in 4 games.

In 2014 Justin Worley was the second most successful QB against the GA pass defense, going 23 for 35 and 264 yards and 3 TDs. His QB rating for the game was 157.35 and we lost. In 2015 Joshua Dobbs had the most yards and the most TDs againt him of all QBs he faced, going 25-42 for 312 yards, 3 TDs and 1 pick. JD's QB rating for the game was 140.73 and we won.

In his 5 previous years as a DC he has never given up as many passing yards or passing TDs as we gave up yesterday. Ole Miss had the record until WVU took it yesterday. No QB againt him has ever had a game rating performance above 200 until yesterday. I do not think he is a 2 or 3 year type guy nor do I think he could survive with that approach. I don't think it's in his mentality or his personality. If he can't fix this and fix this now he's probably going to get hammered and go looking for someone to fight. If I see him I'll send him your way. :)

We absolutely have to recruit on an elite level if we're going to hang with these cats. LSU, Bama, UGA, and Auburn have freaks at every level. Top 10 classes on top of one another at the least, with an outstanding strength and conditioning will be invaluable.
