Man I haven't seen it mentioned but the defining moment was 2nd and 3 at midfield with about 5min left in the 2nd qt. We were down 10-7 and had all the MO. If we don't get stuff on the next two plays we likely have the lead at half with lots of momentum.

The defense to me was borderline great the first half. Really played extremely well other than the one big play that half.

I thought 2 and 98 were damn good yesterday. Kongbo and Taylor must be a factor. Once they figure it out I thing this D is going to hold its own.

Hey negavols- I keep seeing you talk about how horrible WVUs defense is. Where are you getting that? From last year? Is there a chance that maybe, just maybe, they have improved? Or are you arguing that players and units cannot improve from one season to another? If that’s the case, then why the hell are we even playing this year?
Yeah I got slammed for saying what WVU did last year didn't matter, that they'd be better lol

I said "Thank God for Rick Barnes" yesterday, but it took him three years to get things rolling, and his success in year three may have been a year ahead of schedule because of how nicely the team meshed and how well his recruits panned out.

Same thing with Pruitt. We knew it was a multi-year rebuild. It sucks to see it play out in real time, but we just have to be patient and hope for maybe one nice upset win this year and maybe a 7-5 season next year. Year three we can either take a huge leap forward or another steady step forward (9-4) and be set up for a huge season in year four.

I hate it because we've been rebuilding for a decade, but that's the reality right now.

We should be worried if we can't win 7 next year.

A 5-7 record this year and 7-5 next year will cause season ticket sales to plunge. UT was begging some donors to renew this year and are already discounting tickets to fill the stadium. If it's another major multi-year rebuild, many long-time fans will watch it from home.

JG looked good when he was protected. OL needs to play much better. How about Tim Jordan being a beast? So happy for that kid. If the OL can play better and we find a decent pass rush we’ll be fine this fall.
I thought JG looked good even when he wasn't protected save that one attempt at a lateral. He didn't really take any sacks, he didn't throw the ball into bad situations. I thought he was one if the few bright spots yesterday.

What would make you believe at this moment that we will win more than 7 next year?
Well the schedule next year is sauce for one. This staff is full of elite recruiters and coaches, if they're going to be the answer, we will see major improvement in year two.

Watching replay on our 1st scoring drive first 2 plays #86 playing FB was awful.

First play he blocked wrong guy although gen would have been outnumbered anyway and we wouldn't have scored he went inside instead of blocking the guy that killed jordan.

2nd play he didn't get outside fast enough to the edge. If he does jordan scores.

Suprised he was playing that spot instead of pope or blakely.

No moral victory for me. Nothing close enough for that. Unacceptable performance, but it’s the measure of where we are at. We were just never going to be a 8 win team this year. I had us at 6, and I’m firm on that. They will improve a ton as the season continues.

The players are young. I'm not. The coaching staff is new. I've seen four new coaching staffs in the last 10 years. Good to break the spell early in the season. Now maybe we'll get something done.

The thing with JG is that he’s good, but he’s not going to go win a game for you. He has 1 win as a starter? I watch him play, and I’m impressed. However, at the end of the game I just feel like he’s never done enough to get us a W

Was Blakeley hurt or in trouble? Never remember seeing him and playing a walk on instead seemed odd.

Helton didn’t give him enough chances to yesterday. There were at least three 3rd and short/medium where we tried to run instead of pass. If we covert two of them the game may have gone much differently. Especially the one where we were down 10-7 and driving

Can totally see where you'd watch that game yesterday and fault the QB. Totally.
