If the D would just learn to tackle, we'd look a lot less inept. When half the defense grabs at air, fish-flops to the ground and doesn't wrap up, the other team looks really elusive. Technique is correctable. The younger guys can be taught; the older guys don't seem to want to learn.
That's probably my biggest disappointments from yesterday. I thought we'd see a fundamentally more sound football team.

I’m not “conceding” anything. But I’m also not going to pretend like I’m in this fight at all. It’s so funny that some of you think your individual support and steadfastness results in wins or losses on Saturday. You’re not making tackles or catching passes.

We’re all 3rd party observers making comments about what we see on the field, from the players and the coaches. I was at 6-6 before this game and will likely stay that way - although I think the road is much tougher today than I did yesterday.

If we still were coached by Botch, then I get it. We're not. New coach, new attitude, new scheme, new players, new hope...

This team has a lot of maturing to do, throwing in the proverbial towel after one punch to the face isn't my M.O.

You are simple but word was Pruitt withdrew as a candidate. Don’t know if that’s true, but I don’t think they chose Moorehead OVER any other viable candidate.
He may have withdrawn. I remember some mixed reports at the time. Either way, I think they identified Moorhead as their guy and picked him over Pruitt and others. Doesn’t mean they made the right choice. The point I’m tried to get across is that Chip Kelly was much more sought after - and for good reason.

It was reported by MSU beat reporters (and I think Bama, too) that MSU offered Pruitt the HC job and were waiting on his decision before moving on to other candidates. Pruitt himself said he turned down another SEC offer before accepting the UT job. I don't remember the exact timing, but I'm sure it's all out there on Google.

I think you’re wayyyyy under selling Joe Moorhead. He is regarded as an offensive genius and basically saved franklens job at PSU.

He is a phenomenal get for Mississippi state.

Not for his recent resume. His next 4 star recruit at UCLA will be his first this class.

And Shoop was considered a defensive genius...things happen. But, as has exhaustingly pointed out about our HC, being an accomplished COORDINATOR doesn’t a “phenomenal get” as a HC make.

Nope. I like the hire, instead of taking some nobody that we know we're just getting an average coach. But it's riskier also, he could be a total bust or could also just be about average.

Moorhead was very good as a head coach too.

Pruitt won multiple national titles as a DC..

Those two were probably the top two coordinators on either side of the ball in all of CFB. You’re not going to get a better resume than that.

Unless you are just dead set on high level head coaching experience and success.

UCLA lost to Cincy at home? Wonder if those fans are giving up on Chip like some of you are giving up on Pruitt after one game. Hahaha.

Fact is WVU is legit and we’re further away from being good than most of us thought. But also there will be improvement over the next two weeks. We’ll know a lot more about this team when the gators come to town. Must find a pass rush if we want to make a bowl game.
UCLA and Tennessee are arguably in the same position. One with an elite offensive coach and the other defensively. Both have talent but not the players that fit their scheme yet. Give it time. Both fan bases want to win now but aren’t there yet. We have Bama, Georgia and Florida with an upstart SC to contend with. They have Stanford, USC, Washington with an upstart Oregon to contend with. It’ll take another year for both of us to show some promise but will start paying dividends in year 3. If not, Fulmer would’ve had 2 years of networking to bring in the right coach.

Did they really ever throw at Taylor? Seem like you only saw him having to chase the crap the other side let by them. Usually a good sign they he was handling his guy.

Buchanon and Abernathy are just flat out bad. And they had busted plays. flowers and Thompson had some mistakes but you still saw their talent make a play. Buchanon and Abernathy didn't do anything to show me they should be on field. No reason Theo and Flowers shouldn't be the safety's next to warrior moving forward

Taylor may have been the lone bright spot I saw. Warrior, Abernathy, Buchanon, and Flowers were just bad. It's 1 game but they were just flat bad.

I’m just going on what the “experts” declared about OUR hire. I wouldn’t call Moorehead a proven winner based on 4 years at Fordham either. There’s a reason he went back to being a coordinator.

This bothered me the most. On D especially, it felt like there was no emotion, very lackadaisical in their approach most of the game.

It takes a while to get the butch out of your system. These players lost 8 games last season...that will haunt you. They were appropriately fired up when Bain recovered the fumble. They showed fire with a stop.

JMO, but Grier threw some perfect passes. Only his receiver could catch the ball. And they did every time. They have better receivers than I realized. Plenty of NFL talent in their receiving corp with a NFL talented QB throwing to them...

I am not at all happy with this game. I do see positives from our team. There’s hope for a good season.

You’re very wrong. Let’s leave it at that.
