'18 GA LB JJ Peterson (Tennessee signee)

It seems everyone is missing the boat with this news. If Hubbs is correct in that it's in the clearinghouse houses hands then he is going to be a vol at worst in January. That's good news in my book

Even getting him in as academic redshirt is a win at this point. Missed so much time at best he wouldn't play until last few games

The NCAA review determines that there is some question as to veracity...UT will not admit. The "Clearinghouse" is not your friend.in cases like this.

raynoch was faster. AJ was more physical imo. AJ kind of ran upright and stiff. but he could lay the wood, and effort was never his problem.

They were different players for sure, and really AJ was not in the mold of your typical Chavis era LB. I’m just talking about their respective slot in the AA (after Al) rankings, which is incredibly subjective to be sure.

Did you watch a different player than I did? In my opinion, AJ was never physical, although he was more physical his last year. He was terrible about grabbing and slinging guys to tackle them, instead of hitting them with his shoulder, wrapping up, and driving them to the ground.

sounds more like a technically sound issue than physical issue. he just wasn't scared of contact is what i'm getting at.

Raynoch was probably the most athletic LB Ive ever seen play at UT...jmo though.
dunno. when they lilned Leonard Little up as an OLB, he was freaky fast....that guy could get off the ball. he didn't always arrive at the right spot lol, but when he did...man.

athletic LB's under Chavis weren't really an issue. they were all pretty quick, good laterally. varying degrees of "chase down" speed...but i don't really recall any that i wouldn't describe as athletic.

Crazy how this is playing out, not surprised with UT's luck (Eddric Loften says hi, among many others headed to UT)--- hope we are wrong because we really need some good depth at LB, but this kid is not coming to UT. Maybe this helps with To'oto'o, letting him know he will be the focus...

I have to say I do remember a guy/troll that came on during signing day week saying he was from JJ's area and said he would never make it in because of academics and we trashed him... well I guess this dude knew the skinny after all... Makes losing Walker and even bigger pill to swallow...

It is, imo. No knock on AJ, but Raynoch was a sideline to sideline LB, whom, now that I think about it, WAS THE BEST LINEBACKER SINCE AL WILSON

I wouldn't say "since" because they played together and were only a year apart in draft class. No doubt IMO that the two of them, along with Eric Westmoreland, were one of, if not the, best LB trio UT has ever had. For all we criticize "3rd and Chavis", Chief could coach some LBs.
