I explained it in my post. VolNation and TRUE Vol fans can decide for themselves, if they so choose to.So where in that post did I say Joe Namath was greater than P Manning? You're reaching here brother man. I might add that I didn't rip Maurer, just said I wasn't fired up about the commitment, and questioned why everyone was so fired up about it. Sue me.
Serviceable QB will determine the outcome 7_5 or 8-4Maybe. But I don't look at it as making a jump from 4 wins. We had been a 9 win team with bad coaching the 2 previous years and had the talent to win at least 7 or 8 last year even with bad coaching if not for an absurd amount of injuries and then waiting too long to fire butch creating even more issues at the end. So I don't think getting to 7 is a jump at all. And I don't really think 9 is a big jump. That's not to say I don't see 6 as a possibility. I get the questions about the new staff and transitions of both offensive and defensive systems. And the needed cultural change and s&c development. I just don't assume that all the answers to those questions will be negative. I think it is very possible that we will see major improvements in all those areas. And if we continue to have a little better luck with injuries we can really make strides and maybe win some that many don't think we should. I think even if we have no improvement other than not leading the nation in injuries we can get to 6 wins.
I’m 1000% with you. And we get auburn on their 7th game in a row. 7-5 is very reasonable and I expect itThree OOC cupcakes, UK and Vandy is 5 wins. Win 2/4 out of WVU, UF, SCAR and Mizzou-- that's 7. Lose 3/4 and we're continuing to lose winnable toss-up games more than half the time. A team needs to find ways to win more toss-ups than it loses. I think it's reasonable to expect this team to at least go 50/50 on toss-ups with the resources we've invested and the players we have. Win 3/4 and we're on the upside.
I get that you have a different viewpoint, based on different criteria, and that's cool.
Take a lap. Maybe 2. Then have a beer. This was posted in the Maurer thread last month. After ripping Maurer, like he has done from the beginning, ole Chief can't pretend our QB commit is the next...."Joe Willy Namath"?!?!
I may be completely wrong...but, VolNation...Vol fans...which of you think of Joe Namath before Peyton Manning, or any other of our great QB's, when talking about, not only the next great QB, but the next great Vol QB?
Another question: which of you know a TRUE Vol fan that would think this way...to think of a Bammer, over ANY Vol?
To break it down...what TRUE Vol fan, be it a "realist" or whatever, thinks of Joe Namath before Peyton Manning?
Again, my way of thinking may be wrong, but...you tell me.
In this scenario playing the younger McBride or shrout in blowouts would maybe be better.
