Josh Dobbs (merged)

Just know that everything I've been saying comes to a position of absolute confidence.

Is this the same level of confidence that said there was ZERO chance we would lose to GA or who knows how many absolute statements you've made since coming here?

Unkown-what will become of Josh's NFL career.
Known-your ability to accurately predict the future is demonstrably, to be kind, awful.

I don't spin. I've been consistent from Day 1.

You guys will learn soon enough that I was right all along. Just have patience. Dobbs has 20 years of amazing football in front of him.

Just know that everything I've been saying comes to a position of absolute confidence. Please don't think I've lucked my way into this prediction when Dobbs becomes exactly what I've been saying he would be for over 3 years.

Ummmmm no...you haven't.

The more I read VN, the more I become convinced that D4H is some guy who is trolling us all with insincere takes, maybe it's just wishful thinking on my end

Probably. For his sake I hope he is, because if he's really this obsessed with Dobbs and really thinks he'll be the best NFL QB in history, he's a few donuts short of a dozen.

He's not going to the Saints either, as they just traded for Bridgewater from the Jets.

D4H's reverse Midas touch strikes again:

Saints. Drew Brees is old and Sean Payton is a offensive genius.

Best situation for Dobbs is a great offensive coaching staff and an aging QB or unproven/injury prone starter.

The only time I trolled this site was that day I said I had given up on Dobbs before the Florida game. That was my only insincere take.

Everything else has been my genuine opinion.

With said, you guys will know soon enough that I was right all along about Dobbs.

Is there any way that D4H's cult like obsession with Dobbs... who is no longer a Vol player... can be restricted to another forum?

This is trolling and a blatant lie. Just admit you were frustrated. I'm not holding that against you. We all say things like that but you'd get a lot more respect if you would own up to your previous claims or mishaps.

I've seen an idea tossed around by a couple of different Steelers beat writers/columnists that I hadn't considered. They posit the idea that Dobbs could get "injured" during the 4th preseason game and be placed on IR for the year. This allows the Steelers to play out the last year of Jones' contract with him in the backup role without exposing Dobbs to waivers or free agency. I don't know how realistic this scenario is, but it's certainly an interesting idea.

And what a double-edge sword for @Dobbs 4 Heisman. He'd be able to say he was right about Dobbs not being cut by the Steelers, but he'd lose our playoff bet before the first regular season game even kicks off.

I don't want that situation to happen. If the Steelers do that it shows they have no respect for Dobbs. Plus the NFL would step in if its a total sham.

My new favorite destination for Dobbs is the LA RAMS. Their backup situation is so bad that McVay didn't even wanna expose Goff to one second of preseason action. The Rams have a stacked roster. And McVay made a garbage QB like Goff look decent.

If Dobbs ended up on the LA Rams, he would a Jared Goff injury away from being a SUPERSTAR QB thanks to his own talent and Sean McVay's genius.

I don't get frustrated. If you knew what I know, you would know the universe will always have its way. So I don't get mad when things don't go as I expect or want. I just take it as a sign that either I'm not ready or I was going in the wrong direction.

I never get frustrated.

It's not the NFL that would step in. The NFLPA would have to pursue it, and that would first require Dobbs to file a grievance with the union. So I would think Dobbs would have to be on board in order to make that plan work.

In about a year and a half, the Chargers, Browns, Steelers, Saints, Rams, Chiefs, Jets and 49ers have all been "perfect" spots for Dobbs. You have called for him going to a full 25% of the league, and it's totally possible that I've forgotten a few more.

So you obviously ignore a lot of signs then.

Let's bookmark this in case Dobbs does end up in LA, so we can pull it back up when you start telling us how incompetent the Rams are.

Also, Jeremy Fowler, ESPN's Steelers beat writer, is currently projecting the Steelers to keep 4 QBs on the active roster. So its possible Dobbs doesn't get traded, released, or put on IR.

You keep saying 4 QBs is impossible. Well this guy is about as connected as anyone in the media to the Steelers and he's saying the Steelers are gonna keep all 4 QBs this year.

You realize this has already been posted in this thread and discussed, right? Plus, maybe you should read what he said in the link. He isn't saying Dobbs will be on the 53 man roster all season.

Also, big surprise the one person who is saying this is the "expert" according to you. I'm so shocked.

Well this guy is about as connected as anyone in the media to the Steelers and he's saying the Steelers are gonna keep all 4 QBs this year.

Actually, he's specifically predicting that the Steelers would keep Dobbs on the roster "through the weekend" to "gauge his trade value." He's still suggesting that Dobbs won't be on the roster for long.

Either way, he's wrong. The Steelers know his trade value. It's becoming even more crystalized with the Hundley and Bridgewater trades. Holding onto Dobbs for an extra week won't make him any more valuable, and the Steelers would be running the risk of losing a reserve lineman or tailback that they're going to need down the road. Mike Tomlin made it pretty clear that the odds of keeping 4 QBs are really low:

On Tuesday, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was asked if he would be open to keeping all four of his quarterbacks on the team's 53-man roster.

“You’re certainly capable of it," Tomlin said. "If you look at what happens in the National Football League, it’s been done. But in today’s NFL, two are probably kept more times than four. It’s probably less frequent than two at this juncture.”
