yeah, that's my hope, that late in the 3rd and in to the 4th qtr, we're in position to lean on that front 7, and just pound 'em. i want to protect our defense as much as possible.

it's boring, but i think if you can describe TN as 'efficent', we probably win the game. get off the field on those 3rd down situations that favor the defense, don't turn it over, limit penalties and get 1st downs. we do that, and scoring will take care of itself.

and if WVU wants to crumble under the weight of the hype machine that's been put on their shoulders, i'm ok with that too....:)
It's not "boring" to me

I myself hate numbers..People get so wrapped up in them and forget that a sports are full of statistical anomalies. The numbers sometimes lie, or rarely tell the whole truth of a game or team.

The only numbers that really matters are on the scoreboard at the end of the game.

Pro and college teams are investing millions of dollars in analytics, but yes to heck with those darn numbers.

WVU isn't used to being hit like our guys are going to hit them and Grier's stats aren't as gaudy when guys are in his face all night. If the game is close-- and that's my guess-- UT's depth advantage will win down the stretch. Their thin, tired D-line against a more physical opponent with a power running game favors UT late in the game.

Dline depth is actually a strength for them this year, they have 9 in rotation. I'm told talent is better, but I think beyond the starting 3-4, there is a huge drop off. LBs is a big problem for them. Outside of Long, they have nothing, and are very thin. Long is weighing in at around 215 also!
I'm told to expect a lot of 4-2-5 from them with the dline depth and LB weakness

Not an Xs and Os guy, but it sounds to me like there could be some massive running lanes if our Oline gets any kind of push at the first level. Dig that.

With the RB depth we have, I see our backs getting to the second level and beyond early and often!
I like our Oline vs their dline all day

You know more about WVU than I do, but that's my point-- WVU beat reporters say that they have 3-4 solid d-linemen and behind that, the rotation is questionable. They don't seem to think that WVU can rotate 7-8 quality d-linemen against UT; coupled with their depth and health issues at LB, that could be a big problem for them against a power running game. UT has drop-off depth issues as well, but it sounds like we're in better shape than WVU at key positions. Some of those ORs on the depth chart indicate that some of our backups are pretty solid. We'll find out in three days.

I was just posting stuff because Nick asked me to contribute things like this to his thread. Sorry to offend you. I'll lay off.
You didn't offend me at all...jeez man I was just stating a personal feeling about stats. I wasn't meaning that as a dig at you at all..dang.

BVS has been known to cause severe manstral cramps and moodiness.
Man it is stupid when everybody gets pissed at everything you freakin say because it isn't sunshine pumping BS. I didn't make a personal attack on anybody..and still got blasted.

When I feel good about something I can pump sunshine as good as anybody. I'm not going to just do it to please people though.
