Josh Dobbs (merged)

21/31 (67.7% passing)
283 passing yards (13.5 yards per attempt)
3 TDs
101.95 QB rating

7 carries
46 rushing yards (6.6 YPC)

5 TD drives led in just 3 qtrs of action.

Those are way better numbers than Rudolph or Jones have put up in the preseason. WAY BETTER.

Those aren't from today. Because he didn't play.

Great misdirection. The Jim Brown part was not related to the rest of the post. But good job latching onto that one so you can avoid the rest of what I said.

I gave you historical precedent of the Steelers stupidly giving up on a future Hall of Fame QB just a few years after drafting him only to see him flourish elsewhere. History will repeat itself if the Steelers release Dobbs. He will make it 2 future Hall of Fame QBs that the Steelers let go only a few years after drafting them.

Even the Steelers aren't immune from stupid personel decisions

So you are arguing that because the Steelers traded Dawson to Cleveland, and then Cleveland traded him to Dallas-Kansas City, where he became a good QB, that Josh Dobbs' must also be a great NFL QB?

I still fail to see how either situation is related to the other.

You do know the Steelers once let go a future Hall of Fame QB they drafted before he got a chance to prove himself?

In 1957 the Steelers drafted QB Len Dawson (ahead of the great Jim Brown mind you). They ended up trading him a few years later when they signed some other QB as a free agent. Len Dawson went on to have a Hall of Fame career with the Kansas City Chiefs winning multiple AFL titles and 1 Super Bowl.

Its not unheard of for the Steelers to make a stupid mistake like this. They've done it before.

LOL They also cut Johnny Unitas after taking him in a late round Mr Googlemaster. So what, the Steelers were a joke in the 50's and 60's, not so much anymore.

Them dumb knuckleheads in Pittsburgh. If The dobb goblin is shipped off to Cleveland will he win ,4 Superbowls with the Browns. Or will we need to wait for his third team before HOF numbers. I'll hang up and listen. :)

5 TD drives in 3 qtrs vs 2 TD drives in 5 qtrs

Dobbs has CLEARLY outplayed Rudolph. You can see it just by watching the games. And the stats are even more damning. Dobbs is significantly more athletic, has the stronger arm, and has been not only more accurate this preseason but also made more big plays.

Dobbs has also outplayed Landry Jones. 5 TD drives in 3 qtrs to just 1 TD drive in over 2 qtrs of action. Also if you wanna get on Dobbs for having James Washington bail him out for that one TD pass in the endzone against the Packers. Well Landry Jones only good pass this preseason was essentially the same thing. He underthrow JuJu on a go route that JuJu mossed the cornerback and took it into the endzone for a 70+ yard TD.

The preseason has not been kind to Rudolph and Jones. Dobbs has CLEARLY out-performed them. But it doesn't seem to matter as the Steelers seem hell bent on keeping Landry Jones for at least one more year and have crowned Rudolph the successor to Big Ben even though he has shown NOTHING to deserve it.
No, Dobbs didn't outplay any QB on that roster which is why he is either going to be cut or he will be put on the PS.

If the Steelers think Mason Rudolph is their future at QB after Big Ben then they are heading back to being a joke.

So Dobbs will start the 4th preseason game, will probably play deep into the game with very few starters from either team seeing the field.

After that, he'll likely be in another uniform.

Sorry Pittsburgh. You're letting yet another Hall of Fame QB go for nothing because of stupid management.

False. I have always been consistent about the ending. I've never said I knew for sure about the journey.

Huh?

You said about a million times that Dobbs would win the Heisman. You said about a million times that he would take over for Ben and win the Super Bowl.

Come on man. You're disappointing me now.

So this is you ostensibly trying to be taken seriously about a prediction at this point in a thread that is absolutely dripping with predictive failure on your part. I mean seriously...how many posts do you think are looking to turn out being fails in just this thread?

This is hardly the first time he's grossly contradicted himself. The 2017 Draft he kept picking a team and saying it would be the "perfect" place and about 6 teams later, he declared the Steelers as the "perfect" place. He went on about top notch of an organization they are and praised the coaching staff; and now 15 months later he's bashing them and saying they are clueless.

His troll game is getting really weak.

It has been weak. It became weak once he declared Dobbs was going to actually start an NFL game. Then became deathly weak when he stated that Dobbs will win not one, not two, not three, but four Super Bowls and be a hall of famer.
