Same - and he’ll have a TE or FB on his side 90% of the time.

Hall will overtake him if he stays healthy.

i'm just going on what we've been able to see/hear regarding both having multiple maintentence days. and Hall literally just got in on full contact this week.

i thin there's probably a curve for him, on when he's really able to be part of the consistent two deep.

agree about richmond. and that's probably best for him and the line in general. Kirkland, i'm just not sure. i wanna beleive CJP and that this is just maintenance to keep him fresh. my fear is he's just not really all the way back. no way to know for sure. who knows what they're doing in the closed sessions in team work stuff.

only if we're really really good offensively. if we struggle a bit, i think that just goes in the "to be expected" category and it should improve as the season goes on. and the next two games provide big opportunities for reps for a lot of folks if managed correctly.

same thing on defense. i think if we struggle, it's basically to be expected b/c of the match up. if we're really really good, then i think that says a lot more about where the defense, than it does about the offense being really really good in this game.

either way, win or lose, folks are going to over react. so it's foul.

I think it will tell us as much as the NCSt game or any other first game of the season will tell us. Not a whole lot regarding how successful our offense or defense will be. What I do think it will tell us is a little more about what our style will be on offense and defense. I do think a win will give us a surge in confidence that may give us some real momentum for the rest of the season, whereas I don't really think a loss will have much affect at all since we're projected to lose by over 10 points anyway. We just lose out on an opportunity to build early confidence, which is important, but we would just have to wait til the florida game to get that.

All that said I think we whip them. And florida. Then we'll start the real test.

The front line on offense seems pretty good to me. Not great from a talent/experience perspective other than the two anchors, but if you can get guys like Locklear and Johnson to at least play “mean” it’ll cover a lot up.

Neither. We’ll face much bigger D lines this year, same is true on the other side. This one is an outlier.

I see what you’re saying. Yes, if we struggle it tells us a lot- but I don’t think it says a lot if we play well. Sort of like that Cal game to start the season years ago- the one we won. It didn’t tell us a ton.

I think if Hall is able to get back fully, he slides into RT and pushes Drew back to LT and Trey into LG. And that with Kennedy at center and Ryan Johnson/Carvin/Calbert at RG is our best case scenario OL we could put out there this season. But I am far more confident in Drew living up to his potential this year than I am in Hall fully recovering. And obviously less skeptical/doubtful about Drew than you and some others. I do have doubts but I guess I'm less willing to write him off based on his performance under the last GA we hired to coach our OL than most people are.

Reading the Athletic last night (really good btw), and was encouraged in terms of the talent hiding on this team. We had some great recruiting classes, and I think that if we can get even half of those guys to play up to their abilities then we’ll have a heck of a base to build from. Also, we’ve got a shot here of starting to put the gators in the rear view mirror. They’re recruiting worse than we are and I don’t think they’re going to catch up.
I realize I’m drinking the Kool aide a bit, and we still don’t know if Pruitt can lead a program- but I’m hopeful.

2016: 2-1. Mizzou (W-home kickoff game), BYU (W-midseason neutral field), Miami (L-bowl)

We don't have elite players at every position, but we're good enough to beat a lot of teams on our schedule. Opening against WVU will show us how much some of these guys can step up. And some are likely to get leapfrogged as the newer guys get some game experience. We'll continue to get better -- but our schedule may disguise that.

LT is much more important that RT. If he gets his job taken at RT you can’t just throw him in at LT.

His best position is RT. He has been our LT because Butch promised it to him and because he knows it’s the money position in the NFL. But at this point he just needs to do what is required to even get drafted.

yeah, we talked about the flexibility having smith at LT provides....but you're right, you get Hall back at RT, and then we're starting to look pretty darn good up front. that center, lg and lt combo should be outstanding.

yeah, this is the biggest hurdle for me. which then makes the eye test important. how they look, even in a loss, will be important. but stay healthy thru the middle of the schedule and we'll have a shot at 6 or 7 wins and a bowl in the end.

and i still think we'll get a game or two we're not supposed to. may lose one we're not supposed to as well....but it is what it is in year 1.
