Everyone's got their opinions of JG and our QB situation. I'm comfortable with JG and think he will be better with more than 1.5 seconds of pass protection every dropback.

Regarding Pruitt's preference, I thought it was stated here that he's pretty hands-off of the offense, letting Helton do his thing. Helton's said in interviews that he's gonna call the plays that it takes to win, not gonna be tightly bound to one style, whether it's west coast or ground-n-pound. I think we have personnel to be pretty multiple, hinging only on whether or not CWF can whip our OL into shape. Doesn't mean we will have an "at will" offense, just means we can do enough different things to fool the opponent in the right situations. Playcalling will be really interesting IMO.

I did read that Helton stated that Pruitt had a great offensive mind. Makes sense if you're having to scheme against offenses all the time.

I can see that Helton would make all tr play calls and I hope you're right about being able to be flexible on offense.

Tbh, I haven't studied what Helton did at USC so I'm not familiar on how he calls games or what formations he likes to run his offense out of. I knew there was a lot of "11" personnel formations in the spring game and some think that will be what we primarily use.

Again.. I have no idea and am just guessing like everyone else. Lol

I just want us to be efficient and no turnovers.

@HankHill , you may have already divulged this, and I don't think anyone here would expect you to come out and identify yourself...but could you at least let us know the type of access you have. For instance, @MockingVol let us know that he was connected, if I remember correctly, in some way with video/production for UT Athletics. It gave some credence to the information he would share.

I was in Sports Information, but we worked very closely with video and graphic production, so close enough.

Hopefully, I get the chance to make my way back to UT in a couple years.

Dog, how bored were you before, that you gave it 10 mins?! I'm sorry you made such a commitment, buddy. You should be disappointed in yourself. 😀
Kinda sad isn't it ? Idk, thought maybe he was going to talk a little more about UT

Everybody seems to think that they have our offensive game plan figured out. I really think that it is not going to be as conservative as everyone seems to think. Nobody sees all of the practice and scrimmage and film work and everything else that the coaches do. There are going to be some wrinkles. I am not saying that we are going to come out slinging it, but if you all think we are going to only pound away for 3 yards and a cloud of dust, then I think you're not giving this coaching staff enough credit. The other thing is that I think that this staff will be able to make adjustments that our former staff never were able to do. I think many are going to be surprised at exactly how the game plan looks on September 1st. GBO

I agree. Kind of like the fact the practices are closed.

I totally agree with you. Many still have the sting and mindset of the previous staff, where we didn't know what crap they were going to pull game to game. Most will agree we finally have a real staff top to bottom, and they recognize the athletes and opportunities our last staff didn't. They will maximize every player's potential and there will definitely be some wrinkles. I don't think we will come out slinging either, but hopefully there will finally be some slants, misdirection, and other subtle things in our O to keep teams guessing and not just stack the box.

They're more of a threat to score on us. The game plan will likely center around playing conservative, ball control offense. Why I won't be surprised if they trot Chryst out there. I don't want to get in a shoot out with what potentially could be the number one pick in the draft next year.
Probably depends on how much they think our defense can keep them in check.

If they think WVU is likely to put up 35+ regardless, then they probably realize we’ll have to hit some explosive plays and might go with the guy with the arm capable of that.
