That stat line isn't as impressive as you make it out to be. It's only impressive compared to butch receivers here. Butch only had 3 receivers go over 500 yards in a season and 2 were that year. Dobb's best year. And JJ wasn't even close to Malone that year. Without even trying to compare to any other teams or even good Tennessee teams. Dooley had a receiver go for at least 981 in every year he coached here. 2 of the 3 years Dooley had 2 receivers go for more. Mychal Rivera put up similar numbers to that stat line as the 3rd leading receiver one year. I think JJ is good and has a lot of potential. But what Ulysees said wasn't really ridiculous. It was fairly accurate. I think maybe you just don't remember what it's like to have a receiver put up real numbers since the second best receiving season under butch was 618 by Pig Howard. That was a sad thing to think about. So I'm gonna quit thinking about it.Thought it last year, coming into the season, before he got hurt. Not ridiculous at all if you look closer, and you're not still being bent over by the past, like someone who shall remain nameless.
Caught 40 passes for almost 600 yds and 7 TDs his SOPHMORE yr, 14.5 yrds per catch.
He was primed to have a BIG year last year, and we don't go nowhere near off the rails as we did if he had not gotten hurt. Anyone who has the belief, for whatever reason, that he just makes big plays and isn't consistent, needs to go back and watch his Soph season again. That actually is a great idea for those of you that love living in the past and thinking about Butch all the time. I'm not going to argue with you all day and all night, like you love to do...you either see it or you don't.
I'll give it to you though, Ulysees...I got quite a laugh over YOU saying something is ridiculous.

I get it, but it just gets so old hearing how we are doomed to failure if we don't get a top 5 class. I will buy that we need to consistently recruit top 15 at least to compete with our schedule.that's not what i was saying. it's all relative is what i'm saying.
top 10 for us, right now, is really really good, if not freaking great.
top 10 won't get you to a national title, or a conf title, when compared to what Bama and UGA are doing.
not good or bad, just relative.
As long as they’re not lateral roles. We have analysts waiting for their shots and Pruitt gathered this current staff at an amazing pace...because of his network. Osovet, Sunseri, Lilly, Simon and Hardesty can teach for anybody imo and now they will have time and relationships with Pruitt. There’s no guarantee our coaching staff will be intact next year either. I wouldn’t be surprised if we lose a piece here and there each year. They are too good not to move up to better roles.
You all realize that there isn’t much difference between 1 and 4 or 5 and 10 in class rankings, right? Y’all getting hung up on this too much.
What was the average recruiting rank of the Clemson team that’s made the last three playoffs? What about the one that Washington represented? Those Oregon teams? I think it’s more about getting your TYPE of players and teaching/developing/coaching them on the field and THEN the higher ranked “your types” sign on. Do that 2-3 years and you’re Bama. Every signing class has a 3 year window...it doesn’t last. But what your program does is what the talent flocks towards. Elite OL/DL sees a coach that gets the most out of his players and they see themselves playing for him. Pruitt’s getting players that can play for him because that’s what’ll make his football success. Player rankings cobbled together by pencilnerds are for us schlub’s consumption.I get it, but it just gets so old hearing how we are doomed to failure if we don't get a top 5 class. Check out Central Florida's recruiting rankings...they drummed Auburn not too long ago to cap off an undefeated season. What was the average recruiting rank of the Clemson team that’s made the last three playoffs?
