Debatable. Like I said, Worley wasn't really suited for Butch's offense. A good coach would have adjusted his offense for his personnel and Worley and there would be no doubt Worley was better at that time. But either way, there is no doubt in my mind that Worley was better than freshman Dobbs. We will just have to agree to disagreeExcept both years Dobbs eventually got an opportunity and outplayed him thoroughly.
Except almost every report is that he is developing and responding to coaching. But yer preconceived notions seem to have blinded you from seeing those statements by just about everyone covering the program.I want JG to be successful. I’d like to see him be the starter. However, if he’s not devoloping and responding to coaching the way the staff would like, them it’s on him. I think going into this year with preconceived notions and emotional responses to what we’d like to see individually do us no good at this point. We know this staff has gone All In this year to attract the best recruits for the future so we have to trust they will make the best decision to win, regardless of the feelings of others.
I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. It was an emotional response to crap news for me. If they can't use JGs talent, then this offense is going to suck. Checking down all the time isn't going to score points.
Excuse me for assuming that garbage coaching and play calling, plus atrocious OL play had anything to do with that and his development last year. I was hoping that these coaches we have now could coach the talent out of him. I mean they are supposed to be pretty good at doing that I've heard, but it looks to me like they have their mind made up already to go with a guy who is really great at checking down. This is not good news to me.
Dobbs outplayed him. Yer talking hypothetical coaching. The fact is Dobbs was far more productive from his first touch on.Debatable. Like I said, Worley wasn't really suited for Butch's offense. Watched his Stanford games. Lots of passes missed short or in the dirt.
It's not that he doesn't have the arm strength to make long throws: it's that he can't do it consistently.
Exactly, Pruitt isn’t gonna give us any info at all. As long as Pruitt doesn’t come to the podium in tears, or is throwing clipboards in disgust I wouldn’t read too much into these press conferences lol
Being a game manager has become such an insult and i hate it. Nick Foles was looked at it as not even being a game manager. And then he goes and wins a super bowl.
Offenses are becoming so creative now that you don’t need a qb that has to make all these big time throws a lot.
Get the ball to your play makers in space and then connect on a few throws down field and you’re good.
My point is the guy has more natural ability. They evidently don't think they can get it out of him. That sucks. You and I both know what the other guy brings. He has no untapped potential. He has had YEARS to get better and hasn't. If he wasn't good enough for Stanford, then he isnt going to be anything special here either. At least JG had some potential to get excited about, but it looks like they have made up their mind to me that they van not get it out if him...that sucks for us. The offense is going to be painful to watch. That is how I feel about it.
Also, we don’t really know what the coaches are or aren’t gonna get out of any of the players.Maybe, just maybe, JG isn’t as good as you think he is.
Play the guy who wins you games. If it’s JG throwing deep outs, awesome. If it’s KC checking down and taking occasional deep shots, great.
My point is Pruitt doesn’t want anyone to know what’s going on behind closed doors. If he did, the practices would be open to public. Keeping everyone guessing is exactly what Pruitt wants right now. No one in the country would believe for one second that Shrout is competing for the starting QB spot, but he purposely talked about him having the best arm of the bunch. He’s just throwing everyone off the trail imo...What is he supposed to say? “Eh practices aren’t that important”. Of course a closed scrimmage that is as game like as you can get is going to have a different feel to it.
