I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. It was an emotional response to crap news for me. If they can't use JGs talent, then this offense is going to suck. Checking down all the time isn't going to score points.
If JG can't learn to get rid of the ball quickly that offense would suck worse than check downs.

I've been watching golf since Davis Love III was dominating the circuit. Tiger benefited from weak competition his whole career. Until now. The Young guns don't know the "Tiger affect" and they probably never will.
When your winning the Masters by 12 strokes, and the PGA Championship by 15, it doesn't matter if your competition is Jack Nicklaus, Bobby Jones, or Happy Gilmore.

Why? Why not play the guy that gives you the best chance to win for the next two or three years? Just seems really short sighted of the staff. Plus i think KC is terrible. JG at least has upside and it sounds like he’s improving.

In my eyes, it looks like they’re playing “their guy” instead of the one that’s more talented. Hope it works out but I don’t think it will long term. Our QBs next year will be McBride, shrout, and Maurer.
They haven’t “played” anyone yet. We talkin bout practice. Practice

We scored 14ppg the last 8 games of the year after JG took over last year.

We didn’t score points with his “talent” back there last year. We’ll be fine with JG or KC starting.

I’d rather see JG start because he’s younger and the future would look brighter, but he didn’t exactly light the world on fire enough for me to default to him needing to win the job. Just win baby win.

Lol! Tiger wasn’t even playing a year ago, nor did he even know if he would play. His “has been” greatness is already showing, in that he’s already been in contention in the last 2 majors in his first full year back in competition in 4 years. If he can stay healthy, he can easily contend and win at least 5 more years or more with his talent and determination.
Win at least what for 5 more years?

Most teams only do 2-3 full scrimmages before the season. I don’t think you have can waste one just to that if you don’t feel one is the guy. Just to “give him a shot”

Eh, Both got time today and nothing was lost by giving KC more reps in the first scrimmage setting. Now they have a better understanding of who helps the team win now and can start gearing towards giving that QB more reps for final 1-2 scrimmages and rest of the practices.
I honestly don’t care who wins. Whoever gives the team the best chance to win gets my vote.

I don't remember worley ever being better than Dobbs.
I disagree. Obviously, Worley wasn't really suited for Butch's offense, but in the right offense, I could see Worley doing very well. Worley was a lot better than the freshman and probably the sophomore versions of Dobbs, imo.

I want JG to be successful. I’d like to see him be the starter. However, if he’s not devoloping and responding to coaching the way the staff would like, them it’s on him. I think going into this year with preconceived notions and emotional responses to what we’d like to see individually do us no good at this point. We know this staff has gone All In this year to attract the best recruits for the future so we have to trust they will make the best decision to win, regardless of the feelings of others.

I think a full live scrimmage is different tho. And the fact that they chose to give KC the majority of 1st team work is really telling.
Yeah I can see a game manager being what we need this year. It's gonna be frustrating as hell to watch, though. Having a QB who isn't a threat to complete anything downfield makes things a lot easier for defenses.

On if he adds more to the scrimmages than to practices:
“Every day, every practice and every opportunity says a lot about who you are. If you don’t love this game, you probably won’t be very good at it. It’s too tough. If you want to be great, you have to go to work every day. The best players that I have been around were the best practicers. I have been around very few guys that were the best players who weren’t great practicers. I think it goes hand in hand. I wouldn’t say any day is more important.”

Excuse me for assuming that garbage coaching and play calling, plus atrocious OL play had anything to do with that and his development last year. I was hoping that these coaches we have now could coach the talent out of him. I mean they are supposed to be pretty good at doing that I've heard, but it looks to me like they have their mind made up already to go with a guy who is really great at checking down. This is not good news to me.

Being a game manager has become such an insult and i hate it. Nick Foles was looked at it as not even being a game manager. And then he goes and wins a super bowl.

Offenses are becoming so creative now that you don’t need a qb that has to make all these big time throws a lot.

Get the ball to your play makers in space and then connect on a few throws down field and you’re good.

True. Not sure why people act like he’s a pie thrower. He doesn’t have a bazooka but a lot of QBs aren’t.

Watched his Stanford games. Lots of passes missed short or in the dirt.

It's not that he doesn't have the arm strength to make long throws: it's that he can't do it consistently.

Except both years Dobbs eventually got an opportunity and outplayed him thoroughly.

What has JG showed us so far to make us think he could be the guy?

"Too many turnovers for Pruitt's liking. I think Guarantano held the ball too long some today."

JG holding the ball too long was an issue with him last year. Sacks will absolutely kill a drive on offense, gotta get that fixed.

Agreed. Too early to judge but that isn’t a great sign for him to still be holding the ball too long.

A QB that hasn’t learned to get rid of the ball isn’t a QB. Would be inexcusable for Knoxville Webb to have a QB that doesn’t know how to get rid of the ball.

He said JG held the ball too long some. That's doesn't me every pass play, it just means some. There's no reason to freak out yet but he needs to get better before the season starts.
