He was not close academically. You know it's serious when a teacher or two at his school say off the record that there is no way he would qualify to go to a D1 school. I don't believe in those types of absolutes when it comes to recruiting, but comments like that from people at his school indicate he had a lot of work to do. We're likely talking multiple classes. The reality is that JJ didn't apply himself academically for three or four years of HS, and he's trying to make it all up in one summer. I'm hoping that he qualifies. The kid needs to get out of the town where's he's at and get in an environment where he can get some proper mentoring. I wish Propst would have just come out and said that JJ had a lot of work to do to qualify and that the best case scenario would be a mid August timeline. Constantly pushing the timeline back makes it sound like the kid is doing something wrong, when he's probably busting his tail.
Meeting the requirements to graduate from hs doesn't qualify you for every college. You have to exceed them.Again, how the hell do these kids qualify to even play for their high schools if they are that bad off academically? Did they reverse the "no pass no play" policy they had when I was in high school or is every high school program so corrupt that they look the other way? Sorry, but I guess ive just been THAT naive to expect our schools to follow the rules.
You don’t know that, Dog.
Plus JJ can play across all the LB spots. He could definitely help with rushing the QB on 3rd downs.
There’s “no way” huh??Even if by some miracle he does get in, there’s no way he’ll be able to help us this year. He’s missed summer conditioning and the first 8 practices of fall camp. He’s redshirt bound.
He makes it to campus, which I still think he does, he'll be terrorizing WG in that very first game. No play book needed when you are told, "See that guy, I don't want you to do anything else, but make this night the worst he has ever had. Hit him on every play."There’s “no way” huh??
Someone hasn’t been paying attention....
He could easily still come in and play meaningful snaps for us in spots.
