A buddy of mine (we were both country kids working in Nashville) brought bbq goat for lunch one day. Caused quite the ruckus. Brought squirrel another day. Spit out a “piece of shot” on the table. People didn’t know what to think.

Fried squirrel is hard to beat. I like it better than than fried chicken.

Edit - to me it's like dark meat chicken but richer. And it makes awesome dumplings.

took my familly 2 years ago to the fl game, and we stayed at a hotel down town and just walked. last year we ubered it from the hotel to the stadium. really just depends on where you're staying, but even some of the hotels in west knoxville do shuttles to the stadium on game day.

as for tail gaiting....prolly need to know someone, but if you're on campus and your son is on the younger side, Vol Village in front of the humanities building is very kid friendly.

if you're in to more adult scene, there's still some places on the strip, though i wouldn't recommend it, just not the same. Market square has some good spots and up and down Gay street are plenty of places to eat/drink etc....

Good deal I appreciate the information. How much did the uber end up running you idk if they upcharge on game day or something that's why I was trying to determine if it's worth it to get a parking pass but I doubt it is.

from the crown plaza, i really don't remember, but i don't remember having sticker shock either. it was reasonable, and quick. the last game we went to we stayed at the Hilton down town and just walked. no biggie.

I'm gonna look into hotels tonight but with buying 4 tickets and driving in 8 hours I'm sure I'm just gonna look for something relatively cheap but not too far either.

good luck, when i planned my FL trip, i booked my hotel the previous December. and nothing will be cheap that weekend...supply/demand really comes in to effect on game day weekends....

i will say, it's worth it being closer. so much easier to walk around pre game, post game etc.....than having to sit in traffic. plus when we got back to the hotel, me, the wife and kids sat down at the out door bar at the hilton, we had some drinks and played some trivia game with the kids. may have been the best part of the weekend now that i think about it....

anyway, good luck and have fun, and most importantly, bring home a winner.

just did a quick check on the two sites i use for hotels, and in/around Knoxville, the cheapes i saw was around $250/night. down town hotels were all over $450, and most were sold out....hopefully you have some hotel points or a corporate ID you can use or something!!! it gets more reasonable the further out you go, but nothing less than $120/night, even 20 mi away....

Just curious..where do you guys live in NM? When we lived in the Pampa/Amarillo TX area my dad used to take us on trips over to Santa Fe and Taos area a lot.

Well, you have been to the prettiest part of the state then. Santa Fe is also an expensive place to live, so we settled in the more affordable Ruidoso area, which is in the mountains in the SE corner of the state. We golf a lot, play the slots at Inn of the Mountain Gods (my avatar), and do some rockhounding during the warmer months. We get some snow in the winter, but nowhere near as much as Santa Fe & Taos, which are more like a Colorado climate. We have a Santa Fe style (stucco) house on ten acres at 7500', so I also get to play lumberjack every summer as well.

If you ever get a chance, give one to Sadie’s. One of the best places I’ve ever eaten. My stepdaughter took a roadtrip with her boyfriend’s mom and sister which went through Albuquerque and wanted a dining recommendation...immediately said Sadie’s and they loved it enough to hit it again on the way back to DFW. Dream about their carne adovada with that NM red chile. I worked at the VA. I heard when they closed the base that facility went to seed with the inferior workforce.

I'm trying to avoid the ABQ medical facilities, but next time we go there we will try Sadie's. Sounds good & thanks for the tip!

Ruidoso is beautiful.

Well... sh!t lol. I guess it's part of it though just gotta remind myself I'm making memories and doing something my dad would never do with me. I do have a buddy with a corporate lodging card I might be able to get some kind of savings. Appreciate all the help brother when I get off work I'm gonna do some more investigating.

Yeah but they're replacing that production with elite level talent, that's most likely been coached up. I'm not high on LSU at all. Think Orgeron is a buffoon. I have UGA sailing through the east, finishing 11-1, and going toe to toe with Bama in the title game.

You’re not really just gonna replace players like roquan, Sony, chubb, and Wynn

UGA has 3 legit games on the schedule. @USCe, @lsu, Auburn

i don't think they have a lot to worry about with UF or TN to be honest.

and the only reason i have LSU on there is because it's in Baton Rouge. i think LSU is dumpster fire waiting on a match.

@usce in game 2, it's early, it's on the road. who knows...if USCe is worth the hype, that'll be a game.

and then Auburn.

i could see them losing 2 games this year and still winning the East.

Florida has a 7-5 schedule, 8-4 maybe the ceiling depending on how good LSU or FSU winds up being. but they could lose to UGA, TN, MSU, USCe, FSU/LSU.

if GA beats USCe, they cruise.

just remember, the more you spend, the better our chances are at winning.

that's just fact. GBO. :)
Not true for me. I went to 12 and 14 Florida games. Spent sooo much money. I was pissed when we lost .. more mad about all the money I spent just to feel the way I did after those games.

But I'm the kiss of death . For any team I pull for.. no matter what team, or sport. I'm 1-4 on vol games I've attended. Only win was against ole miss in 2010 .
