2018 Has more potential talent which isn't debatable. The problem is how damaged mentally and physically is it. We will find out this yr

That's one of the points I was trying to make this AM. Good talent that has to be developed better and learn to win again. With this staff I doubt any of them will be allowed to wallow in their misery. How that turns out will tell everybody how long it will take to begin winning the east again.

I believe the team is hungry for coaching and wants to prove everyone wrong. I highly doubt they are sitting around depressed

If we're supposed to win 2 SEC games this would have to have us beating Vanderbilt and Kentucky. So what 3 wins would kentucky have?

Recruiting is starting to get a bit 3* heavy. I guess the staff is going to coach them up.:loco:

We could probably have a whole class of 4 stars if pruiit took everyone regardless of fit and just took based on stars. Otey, Woody, wilhoite are 3 that didn't want to earn offer at camp. Couple other kids we have not let commit that were 4 stars. He could easily fake the rankings if he wanted to but he is sticking to his board and his evaluation and his profiles

My thoughts:

1) I trust Pruitt’s talent evaluations more than any recent head coach’s, in light of his background

2) it is a reflection of where we are as a program (we complained about Fulmer’s recruiting late in his tenure, Dooley’s recruiting, Butch’s recruiting late in his tenure - the one constant in all of that is the Tennessee program and its fall from blue blood status in the eyes of many during that stretch, making it a tougher place to recruit to)

3) I do think 4/5 stars are undeniably important (in the aggregate) and hope we land more going forward

For reference we average 3rd in the SEC East in 2018

I don't think we have the depth and talent to compete with UGA but we do have it to compete with Florida, USCe, and Missouri. If this staff is as good as we think we could shock some teams this year, 8 wins is not out of the question.

We definitely need to start pulling some higher rated recruits to close this class out. Need to have a top 15 class at least.

Final thought on recruiting: Pruitt isn’t getting the new coach, honeymoon bump in recruiting so far... it fits my perception that he doesn’t get a honeymoon from anyone in a post-Schianomo world.

I'd expect at this point if your not high on the board your not committing. We are at that point where we can afford to wait on guys
