The problem is that Trump knows that Dems would immediately use his admission that Russia meddled to go down the conspiracy road and delegitimize everything he's done and then run on it in the midterms.
Welcome to politicized foreign policy.
Mueller should indict all 144,000,000 Russians. That would be impressive. Its a slam dunk for Mueller as not a single one of them would see a day in court and challenge anything that he has to say. And despite 144,000,000 indictments there would still be no collusion
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump - 6h
The stories you heard about the 12 Russians yesterday took place during the Obama Administration, not the Trump administration. Why didn't they do something about it, especially when it was reported that President Obama was informed by the FBI in September, before the Election?
************************************
This is yet another version of the same tweet he sends every time a Russian is specifically implicated in the meddling into the 2016 election. He follows the same course:
* There is no condemnation of Russia or Putin for their acts. He doesn't blame the Russians for doing it, he only blames Obama for not stopping it.
* But that is inconsistent with his stance on the meddling itself. He still won't publicly acknowledge Russia's meddling and he will still, once again, "ask" Putin if Russia did it on Monday rather than simply confronting him with the conclusions of our intelligence community. Like many things, Trump wants to have it both ways: He wants to publicly blame Obama but he doesn't want to publicly admit that the Russian hack actually occurred.
* Obama has answered the question posed in his tweet many times. He has done something which Trump never does. He has admitted to a mistake in judgment. He has said that he should have taken steps to counter what Russia was doing but he didn't. He was sensitive to the perception that any efforts he took would be perceived as an attempt to help Hillary Clinton and he thought she would win anyway.

Don't know if this has been said, but, Trump could make some sort of deal with Putin to bring back a few of these Russians named in the indictment next week for their day in court. Let them go through the discovery process of the evidence. I bet the charges would go away faster than a Krispy Kreme in front of Michael Moore.
Not sure if posted, but it'd be funny if Putin tells Trump during the meeting he'll be glad to send a couple of GRU officers over to testify in court.
First question: "Please show me the evidence of us hacking. We'd like to see the server, please."
I'd love to see the look on their faces.
