Ainge says Miles picked up signal in 2007 SECC game

I was sitting in the end zone behind our team and watched the whole thing happen in fron of me. Rogers in the slot had nobody within 30 yards of him and nothing but green in front of him. How different the course of our program is if Ainge picks up that open receiver. So frustrating.

I've always felt that "stealing" signs or just picking up on tendencies is overrated...Execution, mismatching, and proper spacing can and will rule the day IMO...Even if you know what I'm going to do...IF..i can do it properly it still should work... most of the time...and plays should be executed with the expectation the defense DOES KNOW what you're going to do...but that's just me...
The "General" said every or any play executed as it was drawn up woulds always succeed if it was run to perfection. I was told by my father, who watched his teams practice in the mid late 30's, that they would run one or two plays all week long. The run them and maybe 2 or 3 more in that weeks game.

Kiffin made him SEC player of the week.

Unfortunately, it took until October of his Senior year to play the position well. Between all the coaching changes and bad o-line play, he probably never had a chance.

This. Always thought Coach Cutcliffe did a remarkable job that season as far as constructing an offense that was fairly potent with such a weak down field passing attack. Also helped that Arian Foster had a very productive season.

Still don't know how Foster didn't score on that last drive. He caught a pass out of the backfield and was past the defenders with a clear path to the end zone and was caught quickly. Then Ainge threw into double coverage for an interception and LSU ran out the clock.

I still say, LSU's offense was not going to score again that day and the Vols would have won by one without the pick 6.

If I remember correctly (which I might not) we had a busted play after a Berry pick. It was the play where we’d run a 3 wideout set, slot left, fake dive to the halfback, he would run a wheel route off the left side and the give would be to the slot on a jet sweep who would then throw it to the back streaking down the sideline. I think we scored on that about 3 times.

In this game, the slot guy went the wrong way or lined up wrong. We score on that play we win.

In 00, Jabar Gaffney still did NOT catch the ball!

Exactly and if memory serves me, this is one of the plays that was referenced many times when the discussion for replay started. If replay were in affect, then there would have been no catch.

Honestly is Tennessee responsible for most of the rule changes these days? UNC game, LSU game, Florida game!

Yep and he blames it on LSU stealing signals. If he pays attention we have an easy TD.

Guess that explains why Rogers was left unguarded in the slot on that play.

Rogers may have scored if he hit him with it. What did he think he was playing against? Hell, 4 times before using the same signal, even a retard from LSU could figure that out.
