Cousins' decision came down to the Warriors and the Boston Celtics, according to ESPN.com's Chris Haynes. A potential Pelicans sign-and-trade with the Portland Trail Blazers hit a "road block" because of Cousins having the same agent as restricted free agent Jusuf Nurkic, per Haynes. Cousins told Spears he was shocked the Pelicans didn't make an offer, per Garland Gillen of WVUE-TV.

When free agency opened Sunday, Cousins had "no significant contract offers," per Spears.

I’m going to guess their coach instructed them precisely to remain calm all the time to conserve energy, even when they were finally found.

Is needed in the worst way. We need to go after a couple of really good relief pitchers (need an elite closer), and I think we need another starting pitcher to make a serious run. Our starting pitching is just not consistent enough. You never know which Teheran will show up; McCarthy needs to be dealt as he is a weakness IMO.

Totally agree i think we may be good starting wise but Soroka getting hurt was a bad blow that kid is good. We have a glut of prospects to trade so they better be busy at the deadline. Wish we had Kimbrel still he would be perfect

According to cousins himself he didn't. I'll go with the player as a source over a beat writer's anonymous source of a pre free agency rumor when teams are leaking fake information to hide their strategy. But I know you have issues with factual nba information. Member when you tried to sneak in that drexler and Stockton were much older than Jordan? I member.

I don't know why people just assume he turned down all these offers. What team was gonna offer a max deal to a guy who may not play til March or April? This was really the best situation for him to not really be needed until then and hopefully slowly work his way back so he can get a max deal next year (probably with the Lakers). I doubt Hank will whine about that though when the Lakers sign Boogie and Leonard to go with le bron next year. :) And of course this is all assuming Boogie can make it back from the achilles and be anywhere near as good as he was. I can't think of the last basketball player who came back from that injury anywhere near their former self. Certainly not Kobe.

I've scrolled past more basketball posts than VN could ever post. The entire NBA is garbage. I know it's the off season, but do we really have to do this again?
