Funny story, when kiffin coached here there was a rule where you couldn’t use a football during workouts. So they wadded up towels and duck taped them in the shape of footballs and did playbook installation with them 😂😂😂

Got any other good Kiffin stories? Shoot I'd even like to here some from the Dooley/Jones era

The Lakers had like 26million avaible after renouncing Randle so then about 15 after signing rondo. (If they could stretch or dump Deng it could be like 30mil available not counting luxury tax) A lot of laker writers believe the rondo deal was a precursor to signing cousins who they have met with multiple times over the weekend. Pretty much the only reason to renounce Randle was to make room for a high salary guy.

Maybe they never actually offered anything after meeting multiple times but they definitely could’ve offered a better deal then 1yr 5mil.

Maybe better than 5 but they weren't gonna give 20 to a big guy with a torn Achilles. Every report I saw after lebron signed was that it would be very unlikely they would go after cousins unless he accepted a huge discount like the one he gave the warriors. As evidenced by the fact that they signed lance kentavious and rondo first. After that they can't offer much more than 5. Or he just wanted to play for a better team and not just be another guy people like you blame when lebron loses. Haha jk. Kinda.

Also those numbers are way way higher than what is being reported as their cap space. Unless yer not counting all the guys they agreed to terms with yesterday. Which is a pretty inaccurate way of putting it.

Nah not quite. Bron won’t even be a better Laker than Kobe sorry

I'm not saying he'll be the best Laker of all time. I'm saying if he wins 3 titles with 3 different teams, which will likely mean 3 finals MVPs with 3 different teams, many will consider him to be the GOAT.

I know what you were saying. He won’t be the GOAT imo. Mike is best there is, was and ever will he and I’ll leave it at that.

This thread has had enough of this crap

Just saying if he does win another one with the Lakers, many will consider him the GOAT. Including me. Gap between him and Jordan isn't that wide IMO.

At this point, they have to ride out Deng's contract. He won't take a buyout because it's his last big contract.

They obviously wouldn't offer a huge longer term deal to Cousins because they aren't going to take the risk and tie up the money. The Lakers are setting themselves up for next offseason by signing a bunch of one year deals. As others have said, Cousins is betting on himself by signing a one year deal, hoping to parlay it into a longer deal next year.

I think i saw that McGee and Stevenson were going to sign on for the veteran exceptions they qualify for which don’t count against the cap. I know if they restructure dengs deal it can add like 10 mil to cap.

So the way i understood it was they like 25mil , signed rondo for 9 so they sat about 15mil. Which was what was being reported as the “discount” deal boogie was being offered. Lol little did we know.

They were never gonna stretch deng's deal though. They need flexibility next year for Leonard. So 5 mil is probably all they could do for boogie without messing up next year's cap. And that's after releasing Randle.

I know for a fact renouncing Randle saves them like 12mil. Salary caps are so weird anyway. I feel like teams and owners always make them work somehow.
