No it's about gender neutral bathrooms and crap like that. My son just texted me and said he's not sure he wants to attend UT now.

Tell him to just take a dump in the sink in the bathroom that the Office of Good Feelings people use and tell them that the sink identified as a toilet so he assumed it was ok?

This is why I do not think abortion should be legal in America. You can even keep it legal for the 7% of abortions that occur due to rape/incest and health concerns if that helps. When 90% of the abortions occur because the parents are selfish then we have a real problem. Abortion should not be a form of contraceptive.

I know there are other arguments about socio-economic and crime stats but there are also thousands of people adopting babies from overseas every year while we kill our babies left and right. I just think that there are other options to look at instead of just killing babies because the parents are selfish and irresponsible.

This is the heart of the issue. Societally, it’s ultimately much cheaper for everyone if abortion is a readily available option. It’s cheaper for parents because children are an economic strain that many Americans can’t afford (especially young ones) and it’s cheaper for taxpayers than paying for 18 years of supporting a family who couldn’t afford a child.

Few Americans are willing to foot the bill to provide a safety net for the type of people who can’t properly support a child and see abortion as a solution to their problems. Few care about abortion enough to consider socialistic support networks as a deterrent.

Realistically, if we decide to completely do away with abortion, we’re gonna have to make a move left to go along with it. But that ain’t happening anytime soon. Most on the right will say they view life as sacred, but nobody thinks it’s sacred enough to publicly fund things healthcare.

I'm telling you what is a pile of BS is this orientation to UT. 95% BS, 5% useful information. They're keeping them till 9:45 pm. Started at 7:30AM. All this evening stuff is stuff that needs to be taught at home. It's not the universities place to teach about this ish.

Bruh that’s why you skip the orientation crap and just explore campus or go get a burger at Gus’s. Like 99% of orientation stuff is optional. They’re not gonna refuse to take your money and let your kid go to school because they skipped the “what to do if you feel lonely” workshop at orientation.

Excellent points. I hate abortion but there are consequences. We as a society need to figure out how to deal with those consequences.

He's tried to leave and his advisor said it's mandatory. I went through this with my daughter four years ago and it's different now.

Huh interesting. Back when I was going through it me and a buddy just signed in and then skipped out on basically everything. Spent most of orientation trying to figure out the quickest route from Pres Court to our classes.

I never read the book they assigned freshmen or went to the meetings about it either and nothing ever came of it.

We have had this discussion before. I realize the problem is bigger than just a simple decision. I just can't reconcile abortion with my religious beliefs and saying I can't afford this kid is not a good excuse for killing a life. Quit making bad decisions. Quit having sex outside of marriage. Take personal responsibility for your decision to have sex. Society should not have to pay for it. No need to move left. Just hold people accountable. We try to take care of everyone and now people don't know how to take care of themselves. We created this problem by starting welfare in the first place. There are hundreds of non-profits that are much better suited to handling the welfare situation than our government.

And the choir shouted "Amen!" Yes, you have a right to do stupid stuff all of the time. No, we should not have to pay for you to get out of or to take care of doing stupid stuff.

Good luck telling 16 year old Newt to not have sex outside of marriage. My dad bought me a big box of condoms and told me i better use them. I did.

Go ahead and have sex outside of marriage. Just don't expect the taxpayers to pick up the tab. As a libertarian, you should be all about less government and personal responsibility.

For a lot of people though abortion does not equal murder. You said yourself that comes from your religious beliefs.

I personally would not advocate for abortion in my own life, but I don't think America should enforce or enact a law where the basis comes solely from religion

You’re right.

I apologize to you UM. That’s not me. Don’t know why I did it. Sorry to the rest of VN.

It's alright...I'm sorry too, I get very angry about it, and usually leave the arguing about it to less emotionally invested folks. I wish it had never been brought up, or I had just skipped out of the forum.

Just know I took up for you McGill. Just did it a little too strongly.

I missed it all, I logged out after my last post because I was so upset. This particular topic really upsets me too much to engage..It brings up emotions that are really painful for me...I sat here and cried for an hour.

I'm sure there are some who think that is hilarious or silly. I just wonder what my child would look and sound like, what music would they have liked, what movies? What would their life be like?

I will never know...

Murder is defined as the crime of unlawfully killing another person. I think that killing a person can be described as taking an action that causes the other persons heart to stop beating. A baby's heart begins to beat at approximately 6 weeks. Most women discover that they are pregnant between the 4 to 7 week mark. Therefore, by the definition of murder, many, if not most, abortions should be considered murder.

It doesn't take religious beliefs to see that killing unborn babies is wrong.

That's a horrible side effect of abortion. Everyone says it's the mother's decision but she only donated half the chromosomes need to create life. This is another reason I can't agree with abortion. The father has the same rights as the mother even when the child is the womb. Unfortunately the courts don't view it as such.
