For a number of years, I accepted abortion as I felt that "horse was out of the barn", so to speak.

I now have 2 grandchildren and see the joy it's brought to us and our kids. I now cannot see why someone would ever want to abort a life with the sole exceptions of health (life-threatening situation) or rape.

Even with rape, it’s not the baby’s fault. Why should the baby be murdered because of the sins of the father?

I am going to drop this now because it brings up a lot of real hatred in me...it's been 26 years ago this month since I found out, and still feels like a moment ago.

There will be a day we look back on abortion in this country and wonder what the hell we were thinking, hopefully sooner rather than later

Small chime in, I once had a family member argue with me on my stance of abortion. He went so far as to call it a "cure to a treatable disease"

:blink::blink:

Sorry, somehow double posted.

I think our country needs to overhaul adoption, another place where people seem to spend a ton of money that just helps someone update to the latest Mercedes.

Always funny when you feel one coming on, then you proceed to hike your leg up and fart. Every now and then you'll get a little more than you bargained for though.

Didn't you say you like to drop deuces in public toilets, not flush, then hang around to watch the reaction of the next person? If true, then I can't see much difference between your online and offline personalities.

Lighten up dog. I've laid cable in a public restroom several times in my life, and not flushed. Big deal. It's pretty funny when you envision some cat walking in there after I've exited and seeing that.

You still going on about this?

I am pretty sure that wouldn't even entertain my 14-yr old grandson. I will say it might entertain the 5-yr old though. He would probably be right there with you giggling.

Abortions due to rape or incest account for approximately 1% of abortions in America. Those in favor of abortion love to use that excuse for a reason to continue to allow it to be legal.

Approximately 6% of abortions happen due to health issues with either the mother or the baby. 3% in each category.

The vast majority of abortions, approximately 90%, are done for selfish reasons. Avoiding single parenthood, not ready for the responsibility, can't afford, already have all the children I want, etc.

This is why I do not think abortion should be legal in America. You can even keep it legal for the 7% of abortions that occur due to rape/incest and health concerns if that helps. When 90% of the abortions occur because the parents are selfish then we have a real problem. Abortion should not be a form of contraceptive.

I know there are other arguments about socio-economic and crime stats but there are also thousands of people adopting babies from overseas every year while we kill our babies left and right. I just think that there are other options to look at instead of just killing babies because the parents are selfish and irresponsible.

That's a high road answer...

and I don't disagree...

...but the last thing I need more of in my life is a bunch of entitled people raised by selfish and irresponsible parents

two sides to every coin

Thanks for the article and nice post.

On a separate yet somewhat related note, I especially enjoy being lectured to by people who argue in support of abortion yet find it inhumane and unacceptable that illegal immigrants are being stopped and detained at our borders.
