2018 Midterm Election Thread

This is a great example of why we need more than two parties. It makes absolutely no sense that folks like Ocasio-Cortez and Jim Cooper are in the same party, in much the same way that Mitch McConnell and Austin Petersen should not be under the same umbrella.

So the immigrants just ran all the other citizens out of the district? Is that what you’re implying?

Immigrant populations are taken into account when districting, not just citizens. Citizens, however, are the only ones that can vote (legally) - these reps get large territories and do so without having to actually get a large number of voters.

Totally agree. We should have at least six or seven partys.

Far right, right, center right, center, center left, left, far left. Add in libertarians and anarchists and independants who refuse to align with any party.

The winners have to form a coalition government and rarely could anyone claim a "voter's mandate" or push the nation in one direction very long.

We don't need parties, we need platforms. Parties, like any conglomerate of humans, eventually will lead to corruption and being farthest away from what was initially intended.

Some of the Dems that have won special elections have been more moderate like Connor Lamb and Doug Jones. If there's any movement more left, it's only to counter the GOP's move right. She's definitely pretty far left, but I think this was a complacent incumbent candidate that thought he had a cakewalk. Shades of Hillary. Love to see more of this. Term limits and getting rid of these do-nothing fossils regardless of party suits me fine.

If the dems end up with say a 1 or 2 lead in the House or Senate and a crucial vote comes up, say for a Supreme Court Justice or immigration reform that includes a wall or anything that would give Trump a political win, these "moderates" will vote lock step with the far left. They won't have a choice.

moderate in opinion, usually not in how they vote.

The Entire Democratic Coalition is Collapsing

Styx Predicts DEMs will get wiped out in Mid Terms.

He did manage to predict the Trump win within 1 state so maybe he knows his stuff.

Would love term limits.

Never going to happen though

Okay, when CNN has an opinion piece on the DNC slipping too far left, chances are, you've already gone over that edge.

Democrats are in danger of going too far left for 2018 - CNN

Ashamed that the MSM does not control the narrative anymore is my guess and absolutely correct. Remember when they were covert? A few years ago that numbnut Lawrence on MSNBC actually "came out of the closet"? Remember Bernie denying he was a socialist and with the right weather admits?

The frogs are boiling, but the wise are jumping outta the pot.

DEMOCRATS: President Obama “will be hitting the campaign trail for House, Senate and gubernatorial candidates running in the midterm elections while getting guidance from” House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, “according to three sources with direct knowledge of the matter. The timeline is fluid but the former president is expected to start making an impact in September, according to two sources familiar with his team's plan.” (CNBC)

Sweet, I'm sure Hillary will do the same and negate anything O does.
